Guess The Weight Of The Pike

A mate just sent me this - he has no idea what this pike might have weighed when alive, but would be interested to hear your ideas:

Looks like the famous Endrick Pike head which was rumoured to be circa 70lb!

I would have thought the head under discussion belonged to an upper 20.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Yep.....cerainly does look like that pike head

 

If it is The Endrick Pike then its true weight was never established - the fish having been found dead in the marshes in the margins of Loch Lomond. Buller in his Book of Mammoth Pike - puts it nominally at 70lb and I believe Dick Walker attributed a similar weight to it. However many think these are over estimates with 50lb being more conservative. I seem to recall an even bigger skull than the Endrick Pike coming from the River Wye in more recent times - though that could just be my failing memory!!!
