Meteor shower

if the showers are northeast of you, we won't be seeing them over here.

Jan they are seen in the north east part of the sky.

As the earth turns, the USA will move to the relative position that the UK occupied between 10pm and 3am our time, and you will see them too, towards the North East between those times but 5 hours after us, though the guys in New England will probably get a better view.

Thanks for the tip-off, just been watching it with my kids - it's the first time they've ever seen a meteor shower, they thought it was fantastic! thanks again,

Just come back in, saw four. One was spectacular, very bright and swept through about 20 degrees of the sky.

Because we live SW of Leeds, I thought that the light pollution would stop me seeing anything, but these were almost over head, starting NE and heading SE.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Thanks for the heads up. We will have a chance to see it in about an hour.

I read where a kayak club arranged a paddle-in on a lake away from city lights to watch the fun.

Got a couple of super plane trails :) :) Only saw one SS and this was while waiting for camera to reset <_<

I was amazed at the amount of light there is, even out in the sticks, and had to reduce the time to 1 minute to retain a black sky.

Wife kept "grunting" so switched off and went to sleep................

Just had another look at my pics, and I just MAY have got one...cropped from bottom LH corner of pic..

The plane trails are all R to left on other pics.

Well according to the beeb, best time was meant to be around 1am and I was safely tucked up in bed then ! Might have a look out tonight and see but the max frequency is only just over one a minute so it's not going to be anything like the Leonids at full flow.

We were all out in the garden laying on sun loungers from about 2215 to just gone 2300 - Saw nearly 2 dozen - excellent night for it despite some annoying traces of high cloud at times. Glad we moved out into the country a few years back - much less light pollution!!!

A couple of sessions in the garden after 10pm proved disappointing and I was beginning to think that light pollution and thin cloud was spoiling the chances.

Amazed too at the number of airplane lights crossing the sky up high.

Then just before turning in at around midnight, I went out for a quick last look and spotted two in succession, so it was back to my viewing chair, and saw several others, 2 or 3 of them quite spectacular.

I was out fishing Monday night, along with another forum member and some dodgy boat fishing editor type animal (Hi Dave! :D )

We saw quite a few of these meteor / shooting star type thingies. Very impressive.

I'd have swapped it for some decent size bass, mind you :(
