I should think so too, do you count all the Greyhounds hit on the head with a spade, after losing races....

Norrie , i don't know where this is going , but hit on the head with a spade is not to my liking one bit.

Maybe i should re-phrase my posting as being ................"all the dogs i have loved at the dogtrack that i will never see again , whatever the circumstances (non to do with me ) "

Anyone who wants to maltreat a dog is not a very nice person FULL STOP.

What do you think should happen to all the strays that are roaming the streets Tigger?

John.

If no one wants to re home them then obviously they're gonna have to be put down.

Thing is batting them to death isn't really a humane way is it ?

I wish they'd do the same thing in Birmingham.

I'll second that.

Whilst I have great regard for the true working dog, I've never understood the need for a dribbling, hair moulting flea farm status symbol.

Even worse the simple minded saddos who, having taken on the type of dog they feel will enhance their machismo find themselves the subservient member of the pack! And allow the dratted thing/s to roam the streets.

Bring back the dog licence pitched at a price to make people think twice if they really need the animal, with instant punative penalties and destruction of the animal if the licence cannot be produced immediately.

Then limit dog ownership to one dog per household, all animals to be neutered before sale by breeders who have special licenses to breed their animals.

"A more humane way", just what I said in my opening post, but yet you still had a go at me for it.

Unless you were trying to wind me up, if so, sorry for not biting.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I can't really reply to that rubbish as it will only be removed and I'll probably be banned off the sight. :wallbash:

Norrie we know that does go on but I actually know quite a few people who keep and race Greyhounds and they re home all the ones no longer capable of racing. You can't tarr everyone with the same brush.

By the way MR M "good on ya"

Sorry Tigger, But I also know guys here in Scotland, that take dogs up the hills, and either shoot them, or hit them on the head, young dogs too.......never seen it done mind you, just hear them talking in the pub !!!

I do agree that not everyone is like that...I have been offered a few Greyhounds that didnt make the grade as a racer, ...but as I already have a dog, I cant take them up on the offer.

I honestly appreciate the fact that your heart is in the right place, and you do care about all species of animals...I dont want to fall out over this, as we both have the same thoughts about maltreatment of animals...:):)

In sleep every dog dreams of food, and I, a fisherman, dream of fish..
