Skinning Dogs is easy as ABC.

A. Cut skin around back of head.

B. Hold head and lower the body up to the cut,

into boiling water for 6-10 seconds.

C. Take a firm grip of head with finger and

thumb in gills, grab tail with cloth in the

other hand, give a yank,like pulling a

cracker, and if you get it right the skin

should rip off in one piece, JUST LIKE THAT.

The problem i had is that i was in the channel when we were cleaning the catch. I used a pair of pliers after cutting round the back of the neck, it worked all right but it was hard work when you have about a dozen of them to get through!

Grant:

Any tips on avoiding the ammonia taste, apart from not eating them!

As Socksy says, even I could catch them off the pier!

Freeze the skinned fillets. After a week they thaw out ammonia-less, guaranteed - and still firm fleshed. Best deep fried in batter, or in a tomato sauce. Skinning is easy as long as you cut all the fins off first. Put a noose round the head and attach to something firm, loosen the skin around the neck then unpeel like taking a sock off. Easy if you are strong and have good pliers!

rock salmon havent heard that term for years my dad loved it (mind you he was a londoner) i tried it but found it very sweet ,seems to be as rare as shrimps are nowadays in the shops ,nowadays shrimp sized sea food is called prawns and prawn sized seafood of old destinctly expensive ,strange man used to spend hours picking out snot like bodies from winkles the only advantage i saw was the occasional hermit crab to wonder at

i'm a welk man myself and those only from chummies in folkestone ,not the real chummy of my childhood but 5 generations of my family have eaten them so why spoil the reality :D

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong
