Which Beachcaster?

I'd agree with Winter on that one. I'm a novice, but took the gamble on a multiplier. It was alot easier to master than I thought.

Rod wise, I have only ever got my mits on the two Abus that I use at the moment, but I like them alot.

I think there was a recent article in Sea Dangler on the Daiwa Longbeam rod - as far as I can recall, it got a pretty good review.

I actually have a longbeam already, multiplier version, I have probs casting decently with it but I put that down to the cheapy firewolf 27h multiplier that came with it, it could be just me though so i'd prefer to have a fixed spool as my 2nd rod, I will invest in a decent multiplier reel though and give it a go.

Although I think the Longbeam is a good rod I am a novice and the only thing I can compare it with is my other rod which im looking to replace hence this post, which is an old £20 Shakespeare mustang broomhandle that was given to me and now has 1/2 the top eye missing as well, lol. Hardly much of a comparison for the Longbeam so I posted in case there is a better rod in my price range before buying a fixed spool version of the Longbeam.

the longbeam for the price is very good ,the best thing unlike most cheapy rods you can get a real fixed spool version rather than an inbetween version that abound every where ,bite detection is great as the rod tip is thin compared to the run of the mill pokers ,it casts well although i havent put any welly into the beast yet ,i got the 12ft version but i think a 13ft is available for a fiver more (it was out of stock :( ) ,went from 3 fish down to 4 fish up in one tide compared to my old rod against my sons carbon cheapy :D for the price you can get 2 within your criteria
