I think the guy`s being a tad greedy. But then again how often does he do it?

I know charter skippers that have large freezers full of bass!!

It`s no different than glory hunters that smile for the camera holding dead fish that they wont be eating?

We don`t use J`s anymore!!

Hmmm not sure where to go with this one.... fair play to the bloke, nice haul and all that, would an angler get the same reaction if they were lined up on the beach? Are all those fish 45cm, don't think so, not as if they get the chance to measure before the shot is taken, unlike us anglers.

If all the spearfishermen in the UK all had a bass spearfishing frenzy they wouldn't make a tiny dent in the stocks compared to the effects of coastal works in bass nursery areas, by-catches of small bass by the prawn netters, discards of over-quota catches etc. Lets spend our efforts pointing the finger at the bigger culprits, the nonsensical policies our various governments still seem to be pursuing. An emotional reaction to a photo is just the way the antis behave. I think we can do better than that.

Neville?

I only get emotional on licensed premises. And only when the bell for last orders is rung.

Ask anyone.

I didn't stay up that long but I heard the tales about it were going around Lymington long after :D I didn't mean to say anyone was actually getting emotional, but I suspect I am not alone in having an emotional reaction to the photo first, then having a rational think about it after (luckily before posting )

There was an item on the West Country Television news yesterday about the increased demand for rod-caught Bass now that pair trawling is banned!

You have to look for the tags, apparently!

Spearfishermen are handy to know. They have lots of info on where the fish are.

If they want to go done, up to a hundred feet holding their breath, then good luck to them. Not for me!
