The record has gone - 22lb+!!!

Hopefully more details will follow but it appears to be genuine and a fish from the same water as the last record. Caught by a carp angler.

22lb 9oz, I heard, yup caught by a carp angler. :(

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Great account of what must be just about the best accidental capture ever in the UK. Seems like a really nice chap as well. Just a little disappointed that one of the Wingham beasts hadn't taken the record first, but there's still a slim chance that there might be a slightly bigger one around.

Cant wait to see a picture bet it looks really impressive!

The first ever authenticated 20 is a major milestone.Shame we couldnt have got there first with one of the Wingham fish but thats the way fishing goes.Nice to see that despite it being an accidental capture the carp angler realised the importance of the catch and also apeared to have enjoyed it.Nice attitude as well.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Yes, I also wish that Steve had seen his dream of Britain's first 20 become a reality. Still, as Will said, who knows what's in there...

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Quick report of the last session - I never really felt like I was anywhere near a bream despite what should have been good conditions, and big bream fishing is impossible :D Long live the fluke!
