A few hours out yesterday.....

Been hit and miss on my stretches ,plaqued with fricking trout but a few bits and bobs but not enough to make the trips (none of the fields have been cut for 2 years so brambles make walking a nightmare) a few nice chub in my sons horses field (its cleared several bits of the bank drinking) but nothing worth talking about except theres not been any signal crayfish i have seen them die in numbers before so hopefully they are on the decline .

In the past when i cared about catching fish i had squares of roofing felt lying about in the fields there was always fat worms under them until the slow worms move in .

Surprisingly a dustbin bag of earth or vegetation  (just enough to keep it on the ground)on flagstones or bare earth will attract worms in a few days if its damp

Thanks Martin, lucky I got it or it would have been a blanko, unless I was to count the minows which had prolly been impaled as I lifted the bait off the bottom....poor sods, although, the ones that had to be flicked on the heads weren't wasted.  I took them home for my piranhas who love fresh minows!

I have been out trotting a few times over the last few weeks but due to the forum being down or me not being arsed to do any reports I have posted about them.

Anyhow, I had a couple of hours on the river today.  Aftwr weeing korum have come up with some new floats I thought i'd give one a try.  Not a lot to say about the float really other than i'd advise anyone against wasting their money on one!

Fish wise I had some nice roach, dace and chub, no barbel again though.  The barbel seem to be doing a good job of avoiding me lol.

Good shooting Ian, that float looks a likely candidate for drilling the tip & inserting a short piece of wooden skewer or cocktail stick. (not as long as the one I did though, which is more still water, paste)

Worth a go if you're not carried away with it as it is??

I've had a few sessions recently, not many barbel but lots of quality chub!

Fished on sunday just gone and had 26 chub ranging in size (guesses, couldn't be ar$ed to weigh them) from 3lb to over 6lbs.

So at a guess, over 80lb of em.

It was great fishing, hitting them at between 60 and 70 yards plus downstream

I just took video clips and released them in the river where I stood so no pics of them.

Here's a pic of a barbel I had to make up for no chub pics lol.

Great fishing Ian, It's good that the Chub are often so obliging & can keep one busy all year round.

Please do keep on posting - Keeps us Softies going during the cold Winter Months!!
