Teleportation could be be answer & probably will be - when the Government of the day has worked out how to Tax it. :g:

I believe it's already been done - for Minute distances??

"Beam Me Up Scottie" & before any Trekkie pulls it - Yes I know the Quote never happened in ANY episode!!

Not a fan myself though.

Unfortunately, the quantum "teleportation" effect is a long way off the idea of Star Trek style teleportation - they've demonstrated that they can transfer the state of a single subatomic particle, nothing actually moves.

No Dave, the horses produce valuable fertilizer in their crap, the unemployed on the other hand don't, so maybe a tax on them?

John.

Alas, they also fart a lot and thus contribute to climate change. Now, if you could pull the boats with kangaroos, you might be on to something!

You may have changed climate to change by now lol

Not sure kangaroos are perfect even a flat calm canal would feel like a perfect wave with them bouncing up and down and you may have to revive them going under bridges

A few of those bloated carp things that seem so popular these days might be the answer then. They could easily tow a boat, once it got moving, and it would be nice to find a use for them.

That would leave the towpath free for anglers, apart from the cyclists, joggers, dog walkers, etc.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Well yes, but because a solution is technically possible does not mean it is economically feasible.

Sometimes for political reasons a government throws money at an uneconomic solution (plus a brainwashing campaign to convince the gullible that it is a Good Thing) - but the taxpayer shoulders the burden in the long run,
