So the government hands over £98m in foreign aid to India. I thought the same thing and David Lammy tells us that helping out Africans makes us guilty of having a "White Saviour Complex", so what are we to do?
Personally, I'd pull the plug on all of it (it only goes into the pockets of tyrants and corrupt politicians anyway) and replace it with a UK disaster relief organisation able to immediately mobilise and deliver emergency assistance anywhere in the world.

Poverty is usually defined as less than 60% of median household income. An utterly meaningless indicator that conveys no useful information.

An uncle of mine worked in Nigeria (pre Biafran war), he oversaw the printing of all the Nigerian currency. As a white colonial in those days, he got to mix with others of the same ilk and told me of the time when a delegation came out from England to advise the Nigerian farmers how to use fertilisers etc. to double their crops.

 

The Nigerian farmers thought this was wonderful and promptly halved the amount of land that they cultivated.
