A New Floating Bait.

Here'a a different floating bait worth trying all.

Went again to Kippax Park Lakes today & tried these.

Unfortunately Never got one out but had two or 3 very confident takes on the top & they're very visible & firm.

They stay on the hook well too. Not Biscuits so just stick the hook in. (I used the Duck Breast ones today but the Chicken Breast ones should also be OK)

I've used Bakers dog food for a while.

Also, not a hard biscuit, so just stick the hook in and cast out.

A little ziplock bag of them stays in my backpack, and they've caught me a lot of carp off the top.

Species caught in 2020: Barbel. European Eel. Bleak. Perch. Pike.

Species caught in 2019: Pike. Bream. Tench. Chub. Common Carp. European Eel. Barbel. Bleak. Dace.

Species caught in 2018: Perch. Bream. Rainbow Trout. Brown Trout. Chub. Roach. Carp. European Eel.

Species caught in 2017: Siamese carp. Striped catfish. Rohu. Mekong catfish. Amazon red tail catfish. Arapaima. Black Minnow Shark. Perch. Chub. Brown Trout. Pike. Bream. Roach. Rudd. Bleak. Common Carp.

Species caught in 2016: Siamese carp. Jullien's golden carp. Striped catfish. Mekong catfish. Amazon red tail catfish. Arapaima. Alligator gar. Rohu. Black Minnow Shark. Roach, Bream, Perch, Ballan Wrasse. Rudd. Common Carp. Pike. Zander. Chub. Bleak.

Upside for me is we have a Puddytat so I can make her treats disappear!! (Daddy's taken my sweeties fishing)?

ALL,

As long as it doesn't become a fad every one is using a few snacks of cat food probably won't be harmful. EXAMPLE - Carp love peanuts, just not rotting on the bottom. SOMEONE put the first peanut on a hair.  The dietary requirements for cats is pretty intense. Cats are carnivores with a reasonably short digestive system. Cat food is packed with animal proteins, vitamins and minerals.

My experience was with koi carp - short story - they can't handle a cat food diet.

The "best" floating bait is Aldi dog food in the blue bag. Frankly, I found very few animal feeds that floated.

I have tried many 'new' baits (even one of those sour worms sweets someone said were "killer bait") many are not new just a variation of another ,some work for a while (like tutti frutti boilies) and then slowly stop working .

Now i just use bread or worms ,bread for some reason works but is artificial so why it works is unknown? And worms natural so should work most of the time .No maggots and i dislike looking through roadkill to find them

I have never even had much luck with wasp grubs or par boiled potatoes which go round the best bait circle ,worms and bread never go out of fashion except in carp circles ,a slice of bread wrapped around a bit of crust used to be top bait for carp but now i cannot get a bite on them from carp

All,

I'm disappointed at least a couple old timers don't remember.

OHH WELL, I'll explain it for the 100th time

The most pronounce and consistent USEFUL attractant for carp response is “chitin”. This is not really an attractant but an non-energy food. Chitin is a nitrogen containing polysaccharide. Chitin is the second most abundant bimolecular structure on earth. (Quiz- what’s first?). Chitin is a compulsory part of carp diets. In addition to healthy liver function it stimulates the immune system, and supports the structural parts of the carp body. Carp are often fooled by glucose or many of the other polysaccharides since they are closely related to chitin. BREAD YEASTS are closely related to chitin. The first additive to any carp bait is brewers yeast, A sprinkle or a pinch is plenty.
