Fine wire eyed hooks

I've found the choice of hooks has declined considerably over the past few years. Everything is either barbless or aimed at carp.

As you say fine wire hooks are really hard to find in any size.

everytime i catch a fish i'm lucky when i blank i'm a hopeless angler.

I am also struggling to find decent eyed fine wire hooks, surely there is a gap in the market?  I use the following hooks: Kamasan B525 in sizes 14 and 12 (size 12 is the biggest in that range), these hooks have quite a long shank and are ok for flake. Kamasan B583 hooks are ok but the smallest is size 16.   They are wide gape with unturned points, be careful with the size 16, they are not very strong. Kamasan B980 is a medium wire hook.  I also use B420 hooks for breadflake for roach but that is also a medium wire hook (it's actually a trout sedge hook), they come bigger than normal with the size 12 being more like a traditional size 9.  Unfortunately Gamakatsu GP 106 hooks are no longer made!  Any other alternatives?

I had hundreds of mustad hooks in every size from 24 down in boxes of 100 ,unfortunately the club had a barbless stance ,i had always squased them anyway but after leaving the club i searched for them in the mirriad of tin trunks we have in the loft only to find there was speckles of rust in every box ! The hooks are so fine any pitting will cause a weak spot so they went in the bin😟

I now use the varied hooks to nylon i picked up going cheap over the years ,if the knot slips at least its not my fault getting a perfect one on my matchman tyer.

From 12 down i use eyed hooks ,i still have a few star points in my carp bag incase i suddenly win the pools and can affort a car

Here's a good compromise for tying Eyed Hooks, the Knotless Knot. It seems to hang better than the half blood knot, & can tie by hand - or most of it, (save for putting the line back through the Eye) with the Matchman Tyer. Just need to observe which side of the eye to go through or it won't hang right. He's using 50 Lb Mono' so you can see it clearly...... Half blood is still good though!!

Oh good it's not just me then - I also use the knotless knot for eyed hooks.  I like the way the hooks hang, I think it improves hooking.  Though it's never happened I fear the knot might unravel so I tie the book with two knotless knots which means the line has to go through the eye three times, maybe ott.

Know what you mean about slippage, a drop of super glue would do it.
