Mackeral shortage

I was just wondering if anyone has to strugle to get the Mackeral this year?

We struggled a bit in Wales and Lymington, none of the boats can find decent shoals off of the Dutch coast.

Seems to be differential betwen areas,

For instance some of the areas in east fife(east scotland) are completaly overwhelmed by huge makerell shoals in good weather, with a few in south east scotland too, South west scotland it seems to be that theres lots of makarell on days, I was really sick of them last time whilst down the south west fishing for haddock not even attractors and still bringin in 2 or 3 at a time everytime, But then again, same port diffrent days there isnt as many, Im sure some unaproachable guy been getting quite a few somewhere in the wilderness of west scotland, Maybe he could tell us if its been a good year up there compared to others makky wise?????

Yes we have noticed a shortage here in devon,what we are getting is quite small to, I have spoken to a lot of fisherman on the water, so its not my lousey fishing .........

Although last year , there were plenty here.

Some big shoals off the Sussex beaches when I was down there a few weeks ago.

 

I was picking up isolated mackerel and garfish from a beach on the south coast of Kent at the end of last week.

I had 15 from Hythe beach, in about 90 minutes today.

They are not as thick now, as they were about 4 weeks ago. Its getting near the end of the big run.

Seems round here we need a week of calm weather for the schools to form, not had much of that this summer! but by the end of this week ......

Thanks for the responses, Albert took our boat out for 2 weekends and had none, the charter boats that are doing Maccy trips have been doing terribly.
