Yeah it was a minnow, so couldn't be bothered to trek up the beach for the scales/camera....only a couple of pounds or so.

I had a bass too though!!

Tides are crap for the rest of the week, but they are ideal on Saturday & Sunday, so best you get a couple ahead before the weekend !! LOL

Went out this afternoon with a pal who is a dyed-in-the-wool sea fisherman.

We bunked in (don't tell anybody) to a local wharf aggregates site, with a wet dock, and another nice wharf adjoining.

So there I was, centre pin and float rod..

..and there he was... handlining..

You can guess the rest, can't you? He ends up with two thicklips, two bass, and a sea trout, all on a handline.

Me? Nothing..

54 fishless hours..

Just a footnote for those interested in weight/length stats..

One of the two fish my friend had was 26.5" long (nose to fork) but only weighed 4 lb on the nose. (My PB of 7lb 8oz was 28.5" long).

So..out goes the weight-for-length "rulebook" I was compiling..
