Wingham Fish-In

Recommended Posts

I've already had an e-mail asking about the dates of the next Wingham Fish-In so that the right days could be booked off work. As many of you will be sorting out next year's annual leave now, I'm posting the dates here on the Forum. They're Sat May 16th to Monday May 18th.

Wingham Coarse Lake is a syndicate gravel pit in Kent that's normally members only. For those of you who don't display signatures here's a link to the Wingham web site: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/fisheries/wingham.htm

Previous Fish-Ins have produced bream to 16-06, tench to 10-04 (and averaging nearly 8lbs!) plus perch to 3-09.

For the last 3 years' catch reports see http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Wingham...ham+fish-in+may and http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Wingham...ort-t75031.html and http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Wingham...am+catch+report

However please note that I won't be taking bookings until approx May 1st.

Anyone who's made at least 1 post on the Forum when I start taking bookings is invited, and the fishing as always is free of charge.

However on the last Fish-In I was oversubscribed for the first time. As promised those who booked but missed out will be guaranteed a place this year if they still want to come. Otherwise priority will be given to those who haven't been before.

Will keep the fingers crossed for this year. Though I didnt catch this year I would love to have another go at the tench & bream. Think now I have seen the place I can come more prepared.

I look forward to it, if there's room of course which going of last year will be doubtful. What a lovely place and it's great to put faces to names.

I have attended most of Steve's Wingham fish ins from 2005 - 2008 (but miss out on the 2007 because me looking after my mother) and as some of you (Anglers Net readers or Anglers Net members) already know that I am already a member of the Wingham syndicate group.

So I am willing to give my place for this year for the coarse lake as I can go anytime I like. :D

Steve - Count me out for this 2009 Wingham Fish In - but can I maybe could come along and hopefully advised others anglers who have never fished Wingham before or help out in anyway?

Although I was lurking here, and may have even posted, before last years Wingham, I didn't feel confident enough (in my return to angling skills) to put my name down. I'd love to attend this years if possible, just hope I'm around and my ISP/PC is alive come the bookings rush! :)

Both blanking and the catch of a lifetime are fairly common at these fish-ins. Great fun either way but catching is always a bonus.

When Jan & I made the trek over several years ago, I blanked except for a couple of lure caught pike which was only possible because Steve waived his usual 'no lure' rule for me for an afternoon. I've been fishing since 1947 but my bait fishing just was not up to the task.

I guess he figured that 4K miles was too far to travel to have me blank. :D

Catching aside (since I really didn't), the weekend ranks amoung the top half dozen fishing trips I've ever taken and I've taken a bunch.

Hey, I caught a pike on a lure, too :fishing1:
