  5. I know its sea fishing but over the past 12 months I have had seen both ends of things like this. I normally fish on the lower walk north of Gynn Square in Blackpool. Recently a group of 13-16 yerar olds have started pelting us from the upper promenade with stones and water filled balloons (at least I hope its water). It dosnt matter how much you try to reason with them you just get a load of verbals. My car has been hit on two occaisions, luckily by water bombs and a soggy toilet roll and no damage has been done but it is annoying. About 6 months ago I was fishing on the beach at Fleetwood. It was 10.30pm and dark. I was on my own on the beach about 100 yards away from the promenade when I was approached by a group of youths. All were shouting loudly and the majority had cans of beer/lager. I was genuinly worried and my filleting knife went up my sleeve(just in case) They came over to me. You can guess what I'm thinking by this stage. They sat down, started asking me questions about what I was catching and sea fishing in general and were genuinly interested. They spent about 20 minutes with me and wished me good night and good luck and went back to the prom Just shows you how wrong you can sometimes be! [ 14. 11. Although this is a tragic incident I am always amazed at the sheer stupidity of people who, every year, go out in lets face it small boats dont come back. When will people stop underestimating the power of the sea? Or do we have the 'It will never happen to me' mentallity? I was at Fleetwood on the same day this happened and I saw several people blown off their feet (and I dont just mean elderly people) It was high tide when I got there, the current and tide was running at a FRIGHTNING speed in the channel and yet there was still a pr*t fishing (obviously with Christmas pressie floatation suit on)Not only that he had a young child with him, who was no where near as well protected from the weather and who looked frozen and fed up. The child was running up and down the beach unsupervised. One slip and the child would have stood NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER. Another tradgedy. COME ON PEOPLE we've all got brains.....USE THEM!! [ 30. Christmas

We've had my father in law who only watches sport(horse racing and pansyball(sorry football)) and who SULKS when the TV is not on. If it was on TV he would watch two flies walking up the bloody screen. Has 3 topics of conversation horses, betting and Blackburn Bloody Rovers. I know NOTHING about horses or betting and HATE football! My mother dislikes sport but watches soaps and Opera. I havnt watched Corrie since Deardrie(sp) was just about to be sent down. I occasionally watch Eastenders and even if I havnt watched it for a few months you can understand the story straight away, "Wots goin on" and screaming and shouting is the same at anytime. As for Opera I'd rather have my testicles tied with piano wire and be suspended from the roof with that wire. Jeeeezz TV was not switched on AT ALL on Christmas Day because it was total cr*p. Listened to my local BBC radio ALL day, BRILLIANT! WHAT SORT OF CHRISTMAS DO YOU THINK I'VE HAD!!!!
  14. Here's my gun and there's my foot.......BANG!!!!!..............OOOPS
  15. Radio Lancashire, BUT only through headphones, others might not want to hear it!
  16. All I get when I try to look at these pictures is a blank box with a tiny box in the top left corner with a triangle, circle and square in it, WHY? how do I open the picture? I HATE BLOODY COMPUTERS!!!!!
  17. if the above website is no good try ringing Ian Rose on 01803 529953. I have bought 386 spares off him before now.
  18. Come on chaps, do me a deal, I'll not be doing much coarse fishing next year and dont justify a pole like this
  19. Firstly, I am so sorry that you are soon to be a widower, However, you seem to be taking a positive attitude towards it and that will help in the future. My thoughts are with you especially at this time of year. Secondly, GET RID of the name OLD BOB 53 is not bloody old!!!!!!! Last but not least, if you ever fancy a few days on the Fylde coast, and belive me we have thousands of hotels, let me know and we can sort out a few days beach fishing (cannot guarentee fish though)
  20. The problem is what might be good for me might not suit you. Personally I would recommend a good quality fixed spool reel (Shimano Aerlex, Penn Surfmaster 70, Daiwa Emblem)and a good rod about £100 will see you right. Abu, Penn or Daiwa do good rods in this price range. If you go into the second hand market you might get an even better quality rod (Century). Whichever way you go for £200 you will get a decent start to sea fishing. Good luck and enjoy it

  22. Why was that man getting so excited? Did something special happen? Who is Jonny Wilkinson? Did he win something? Did WE win something?
  23. Spot on Tony. Good site. Cheers
  24. Although I use both types of reel I do prefer the good old fixed spool. Argyll, I use a FS reel on my rod which is rung for a multi and yes ok you might lose up to 5 yards or so on a cast(I have compared casts on the field) but there are no other problems. Yes, WITH PARCICE you can get further with a miltiplier, BUT if you just an 'average' angler then FS reels are fine. It seems to me that we as anglers are OBSESSED with getting the extra 5 yards. You will probably cast over more fish than you cast to. Personally, I'd stick with a FS reel. I have tried various reels including the Aerlex, Surfmaster 70, Varoious Daiwa ones and am currently using the Okuma Amplifier. All are good reels. Given the choice I'd say the Surfmaster is the best but the Okuma is a cracking reel for £30ish.
