No it was not photographed, by the time it was realised it looked a bit odd it was alredy released. Perhaps we shall never know. Dave
  2. Cheers Norrie, I have not come across this way of "tagging" either. Dave
  3. Anybody heard of this ?? I have just had a chat with one of our local skippers, chatting about what was caught today and he said one of the anglers on board had a small (4/5lb.)Tope. When unhooking it they noticed a line of numbers across its back and 3 blocks with numbers and letters in them. All were to small or faint to read. As for the size of the fish it must be one of last years brood. Has anybody else come across this before ? If so who does it and any idea on what it is for. Dave
  4. Done it last year while Pike fishing on Loch Awe. My mate had a small jack on and brought it to the side of the boat, I leaned over grabbed the trace to pick the fish from the water, the Pike had other ideas though. It gave one almighty shake of the head, the rod compressed and out popped the hook, as the rod was compressed the Crystal Minnow went straight up and yes into my finger on the first joint by the nail. Right into the bone over the barb . Trip to Oban A and E to get the bugger out. I could continue but might get carried away and end up writing a full length saga. Dave
  5. Must be to dry and cold for the ants to be in there John. Try turning the compost and adding some water to moisten it plus an activator. I don`t have any ants but when turning my heap over last week end I found a whole bunch of Grass snake eggs, took a while for it to click on what they were. Dave
  6. MLD, you should have gone to Fort Victoria for Black Bream and /or Mackerel, The Duver at St Helens for flatties from the beach or got on a boat from Bembridge and had a go at fishing The Nab. Plenty of fish being caught from other parts of the Island, I suppose you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Same old story, "should have been here yesterday" as they say. Perhaps you will have better luck another time here. Dave
  7. Sam I have fished both marks and have not heard of any Tope coming from them. I could be wrong mind. Dave
  8. Sorry Sam, I am down there next month. Dave
  9. Cheers Jon, I am convinced of that as well. Trouble is that all other pics of the church were coming out crisp. I took 4/5 of that part and none of them were clear.  But I still think you are right. Dave
  10. Iam down to just the one tank now. 6ft. x 2ft. deep x18 ins wide. Gone through the marine phase. Got to expensive now I think. Down to a couple of Oscars and a Plec. Might go back to the cold water marines from around the Island here. Just have to get a quiet way of keeping the water cool in the Summer. Dave
  11. Great pics J.K. How many tanks have got?? Most of them would just love to get at one another. Not counting the marine. Dave
  12. Here you are Summer. http://www.leadertec.com/ Dave
  13. Surely it has to be a 3 bearded rockling. Have a look at the last picture on here. http://www.mikeladle.com/tackle/tackle14.html Dave
  14. Just a couple of pics I took inside a church we are doing up at the moment. The Dove window is to the East side of the church and came out quite clear I thought. Had to climb 40ft. up the scaffold to get it mind. This one is from the West side of the church and most of the Ward family (who had the church built) are buried under this part of the church. Make up your own minds. Dave [ 30. July 2005, 02:51 PM: Message edited by: fisherman ]

  20. I fish on the north coast when down there and all of my descent Bass have come just on dusk. But the tide has to be right as well. I have caught the biggest on the ebb, half way down. That might just be the area I am fishing though. It will probably be different place to place. Can`t help on Penzance I am affraid. Dave
  21. Where abouts are you in Cornwall. Should be plenty of Wrasse off the rocks now, on a float and worm. Dave
  22. Have to agree with Norm B, all my big Bass (12.75 the biggest) have come to whole side or whole small joey mackerel. A couple have even been on the float drifting it along the harbour wall. Good luck Dave
  23. Nice fish and some great pics. Never fished in Ireland, looks like the place to be. Dave
