  1. Hi Dan. The same thing happened on our boat bank holiday week end. The bird is either a Chiff Chaff or Willow Warbler. By the end of the day we had about 3/4 birds come to visit us. Had a good rest and off they went into the fog. Dave
  2. Must be the same place Kenny. I shall find out when I get there. Probably totally wrong and end up fishing where there are no fish. . But who cares, I shall be fishing and not working. Dave
  3. The house is definately on the north side, had to do the touristy thing last year with the FPO and remember going over the Connel bridge to get there. It was right at the end of a long, windy, quite narrow road, there was a small village with the local (infants) school on the left, the quarry looked as if it was round to the left of the old house. Dave
  4. Cheers Kenny, I am doing it in one hit, stopping around Lomond (Liss) for lunch. Just want to get where ever I am going to once I start,Should be able to do it between 8.5 to 9.5 hours. At Bonawe quarry, is that where there is that derelict house that used to be the old managers house to the quarry ?? Dave [ 08. May 2005, 10:53 AM: Message edited by: fisherman ]
  5. Cheers for the info so far guys. Looks like a good trip in the making. Long drive first though all the way from the Isle of Wight. . So I hope to catch something for my efforts. Dave
  6. I am off to Loch Awe for my annual outing, this weekend, for a fortnight. I have caught some great Pike in the loch and would now like to sample the sea fishing. What is the fishing like in Loch Etive around the Taynuilt area for a start. Any tips. If anyone wants to meet up great , or go a little further afield as long as I can find it . Have caught some great shark in the past so a boat trip could be fun as well. Anyone got any info for me . Dave [ 07. May 2005, 07:29 PM: Message edited by: fisherman ]

    Bait

What would be a good bait for this week end off the Needles. Crab, Sqiud, Worm or good old Mackerel. Or all of the above. Dave
  11. The only thing I can tell you is. Yes there is a size limit. I am sure someone else will tell you what the limit is. Sorry can`t help more than that. Dave
  12. The only ones I have in flower at the moment. Hope this works. All flowers on different carnivorous plants. Dave [ 23. April 2005, 08:16 PM: Message edited by: fisherman ]

    Forum Newbie

Welcome to the site Doc and just wait for the questions. Here is mine. I am sure I have your address somewhere. I was going to drop you a line about repairs to a Tatler I have. At least I can get to you easier on here. Do you still repair Tatler reels? Dave [ 11. April 2005, 09:36 PM: Message edited by: fisherman ]
  14. Hi John, the tippet as you say goes onto the end of the leader which your fly is then tied to. If not using a tippet every time you change your fly you can appreciate the leader is going to get shorter and shorter, until the time comes when the leader is so short and thick you will not be able to get it through the eye of the hook. So yes do use a tippet of about 3 to 4 foot then when it gets short all you have to change is the tippet and not the whole leader. Join the two by using a simple loop to loop. Hope this helps. Good luck. Dave [ 08. April 2005, 07:32 AM: Message edited by: fisherman ]

    Fishing hats

Just stich the hole with a few old flies and it will be as good as new.
  16. That`s right. Make a bimini twist in the braid first then use the shocker knot to join it to the mono.
  17. Hi Ken, have a look here, it should tell you what you are looking. I always use this knot with no probs as yet. http://www.leadertec.com/fishing_knots/knots_shocker.html I use a 50lb.leader on the boat from my braid and it works well. Dave
