nice one sam, been fishing for perch a bit myself bagged a new pb@ 3.09, got that and a 2 on same rig,was using double lobs,one air injected the other sinking to create a balanced bait, sinking braided hooklink with a fox leger stem and 2oz grippa lead. i dont tie direct to the swivels either prefering a looplike carp anglers use-gives more movement. you can never be 100% that it makes the difrence but i like to think all the fine tuning and thinking does pay off in the form of results

shimano for me, okumas are ok but i have heard a few bad reports about them falling apart after not alot of use seeing as you wil be lure fishing with it, its gonna take some punishment,go for the shimano, be better off in the long run

tis a shame that soem think they are on on the red carpet when taking a pic of a fish.... no matter what the species,i am quick,unhooking and photos are done quick -fast. with digital cameras you only need 2-3 shots quick look at the screen yep kool,put em back. if you have to mess about getting scales cameras ready etc use the bloody landing net,rest the fish in the water with one person looking after it other sorting bits out. its not rocket science..... as an angler,to me they arent just a fish....they are precious ...specimens even more so

i am a proper fox tart,but i dont like the look of that reel one bit.... gimme a shimano anyday!

thanks all i'm still buzzing about it, the pic was taken just after dusk-halflight- i looked after the fish in the landing net while my mate matty rand ready'ded the scales and camera,thanks to his trick nikon we got some good flash pics and realsed the beast. the perch kept its dorsal up n pround the whole time we had to be very carefull with it! teh 2 was icing on the cake...first 2!

oh yes i have my orange b&q bucket,ask gerry ,when i go proper mobile ie public trnasport its left behind and tuppaware comes into its own mate! still cant catch on the bloomin things...lures!??

looks nice but it looks a bit big for mobile fishing? i do liek my tuppaware boxes,n my washed out takeway trays too

peter just had a look on the lea consortium site,you can fish from bow-chesunt no further than aqueduct lock. i had a look as i was curious n might go chuck some lures see whats about.

diffrent place but tidal,i started piking it,but its so dodgy at times,tide comes up quick after rain...forget it

one off my patch does involve tidal water?

pike-predator becomes the prey-bailey and paige quality book,learnt alot from it well recommended ultimate pike-dave horton very inspiring book! mammoth pike-nev fickling just so you can sit read n say "my god...oh my god thats 'kin huge!"

probably my first 20+ pike, i had spent nearly 4 months with very little to show for my efforts,altho i knew a good fish was in residence i couldnt seem to find her,then one sunday in december 2003 i got my take. the fight was unreal,i have had some good carp that have scrapped, but this was a river fish in a current and she wasnt havin it! took line several times as i pumped her towards me,the sight of that pike coming upstream on the surface made my knees go weak,she was netted on the second attempt,by myself, i always wondered what a big pike will look like infront of me now i know...they look amazing. i will never forget that day and the effort and pain in trying to get that fish. even if i get one bigger that will mean the most to me my first 20. went back about year later(october) and found a fish on a gravel run,looked a good double,so i stalked it,fialed to catch her after she picked up n dropped a roach bait,went back next week popped up a sardine on the gravel run....10 mins later i was weighing a 19+,excellent im thinking....no...same fish in autumn trim! doh! never been back since.

i would go and fish for the big perch that inhabit some of them,might even find one or two with a pike problem : )

not had a bad seeason at all, caught some nice perch(1.8+)on the stick float in the summer while fishing for zander bait,i finally landed my zander after 7 sessions and lots of missed takes,she only wieghed 6lb but she was special as i werent in the fens or at bury hill! fishing the fens more too for pike,lots of fish up to 13lb i couldnt get above that tho my mate i fish with had several 16's! i also fished a gravel pit for teh first time in november,and got one take for a cracking 16.3 esox-my biggest so far this season. also had my first tidal river pike,a fat double. hopefully next two weekends might produce "the one!"

if its true thats a mssive perch, did anyone see mads grossell's perch from denmark? was in AT week or two back 5lb 10oz!! 52cms long, huge great soft shad caught monster!
