  1. Rick Jolly Medical Officer in the Falklands conflict
  2. Maybe his heel spurs started playing up again.
  3. Some people need to learn the difference between climate and weather.
  4. It's not about about a lack of money or the EU. It's about poor management, waste and an organisation based on ideas from the 1940s failing to meet the needs of 2018. Various governments have played about with it over the years but all they have done is patch it. It requires complete re-organisation. A move toward some sort of privatisation is inevitable but the risk is that it will blindly follow the American model, which is about the worst possible outcome.
  5. For the guitar buffs, or anyone who appreciates excellence
  6. I'm pretty sure they were mullet Jim. You had a few strange things up there due to the Gulf stream being diverted around the top of Scotland. Quick search howed up a few references http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/threads/q-for-orkney-residents.286952/
  7. After spending the last few years mainly sitting behind buzzers fishing for big fish, this year I intend to scale down a bit. I live on a cracking small river that contains Roach, Bream, Chub and Barbel as well as carp and catfish in the lower reaches. To celebrate I have acquired a super new (to me anyway) float/trotting rod that will be getting its first outing tomorrow. The rod is a Shakespeare Excelsior 13' a rod I have coveted since a mate had one years ago. Very light and super slim I was lucky enough to find one that looks as if it has hardly been used. Now all I need is a semi decent centrepin to go with it.
  8. 50 shades for computer nerds “I’ve been a very bad girl” she said, biting her lip. “I need to be punished.” “Very well,” he said and installed windows 10 on her laptop. He was very careful during bondage sessions. He always used a safe word that contained upper and lower case letters and at least one number. They tried it standing up, sitting down and bent over the kitchen table but it was no good – they just couldn’t get a decent Wi-Fi signal. “I’m all yours tonight!” she cried, “do something to me you’d never normally dare to do to a woman!” “All right” he said, and made eye contact. His tongue explored the hole before probing deeper, until she couldn’t take any more. “Look, would you just eat your donut already?” She writhed on the floor, squealing at the extreme pain he had inflicted on her. “I thought you said you put all your Lego bricks away!” She told him she was turned on by men who like to live dangerously, so he disabled his firewall. “Talk dirty to me” she begged. “All right” he said, leaning closer, “Volkswagen diesel..” “So, what’s your favourite position?” she asked. “Easy,” he said, “the middle seat of the sofa, exactly 1.5 m from the TV and the PS4.” “Come over,” she begged. “I need you right now!” “Just turn it off and on again,” he sighed. He hated these late-night rebooty calls. “It’s just too big!” she cried. “It’s never going to fit!” “Of course it will,” he grinned, “I’ve compressed the file.”
  9. Your urine is almost certainly cleaner than the water.
  10. With Donald trump in charge, what could go wrong?
  11. A happy Christmas and good new year to all.
  12. When Win10 first came out I upgraded from Win 7 I was having freezing problems and just didn't like win10 that much so I used the rollback feature and it worked perfectly with no issues. I got win 7 back and working perfectly. That was my experience. There are no guarantees that it will work the same for you.
  13. The thing is Chesters that the majority of those who voted in the referendum voted to leave but we don't know what individual MP's constituents voted for. If an MP's constituents voted to remain, even if the MP is a Brexit supporter, shouldn't the MP be voting against Brexit in support of their constituents? You may well have a situation where individuals like the buffoon Boris and the odious Gove should be remain supporters because that is how their constituents voted.
  14. A pleasing smack in the face for trump from Alabama. Doesn't bode well for the Republicans in 2018
  15. Hi Huge As you say, nail biting stuff. I would love to see Louisa win, although I am sure that she will have a very bright future come what may. TBH I can't see anyone coming close to beating Mark, unless he has a meltdown.
  16. The weather outside has been rather pleasant today. Sunny and about 12 degrees. I have been out in the garden finishing off the new chicken run. Colder now though, down to 2 or 3 degrees
  17. Could just sit and watch that for hours
  18. So, an agreement has been reached. Does anyone understand it yet? It would seem that the UK will give the EU a bunch of money. 39 billion has been suggested To solve the Irish border situation, it would seem that the UK will stay within some form of customs union or single market It would appear that there will be continuing control by the European courts of justice I understand the UK will continue to pay the EU for at least a couple of years after leaving On a personal level, it seems less likely that I'm about to be evicted and repatriated or that EU citizens living in the UK will be repatriated Nigel Farage seems a bit disgruntled by it, which can only be a good thing What do you think?
  19. The only people we have knocking on the door at Christmas are the local Sapeurs/Pompiers (firefighters/rescue/Paramedics) They come around every year selling their calender for donations. As the local crew are part time volunteers I think they deserve a donation and at my age I may need them, so I always give generously.
  20. Looking at that, I've chucked a few quids worth of fish back over the years. If only I had known You often see Pike and Zander on the fishmonger's slab here and very expensive it is too.
  21. Cat tackle is 5lb TC rods and very strong reels loaded with 50lb line. A 39lb cat is what we call "bait" around here. My PB cat was around 100lb, we hadn't got scales that weighed that much. Landed on a 3lb TC rod and 14lb line when I was carp fishing. Fine for a one off, but if you caught big cats on a regular basis on it, it would break something, probably the reel to start off with.
  22. Big catfish is what I had in mind Two options Option one Drive down and bring all your own tackle. Fish one of the big rivers. Outcome uncertain Option two Get cheap (Ryan air) flight to Limoges. All kit supplied incl bivvies etc. You just supply sleeping bag Specialist cat tackle can be hired for €95.00 a week Fishing a private lake with average cat weight 75lb + and many 100lb+ With 4 anglers we would have the lake to ourselves for around £350.00/week, including airport transfers and everything except fishing tackle hire.
  23. Still here. Check in most days to see if anyone has started a new thread. Don't know about a fish in. If anyone fancies a few days in France I would be very happy to organise something
