    rain

Some waters react differently to others, i fished a contest last year everybody wasn't catching hardly anything but as soon as the rain started coming down the fish seemed to turn on and most of us ended up catchin twice as much in the last hour then we'd caught in the first 4 hours. But most shallower lakes seem to knock off when it rains as the temperature seems to drop suddenly and they go off the feed. Maybe fishing in the deeper parts of the lake while it thrashing it down may lead to more bites and more fish.
  2. Well they can't do to much to the enviroment as pool by me is one of the higest popualted pools ive see, probably is the best stocked pool ive seen and not a single fish has been introdued by any club and shos that allowing natural popullating is best. In the summer you can throw a piece of bread in and have possibly 200 carp of around 1lb and the pool has probably a popullation of a 1000 goldfish as in the summr months the pool is covered in orange dots of small and big goldfish. The pool also has a thiving number of crusians there probably the higest populated fish in thepool, they seem to be all true crusians lovely golden. The only thing i fins strange about the pool is you cant catch a tench bigger than 3 inches, its the only place i know you catch tench this small, i read in an angling times it was rare that a fisherman would catch a fish that small in there lifetime, well if thast the case the should come here i catch around 30 tench under 3 inches ever time i go. So i dont reckon goldfish harm the enviroment may even benefit it with the way this pool looks..
  3. £5.95 for that stuff , save yourself some cash and got to a car shop, they sell the same stuff for £1. I went to my local tckle shop and said go over the road and ask for some carbon spray. Used it all on my lose rod sections and works a treat. But i found a new use aswell, one of my poles had striped at the top of the push in part, i put a piece of card underneath and celotaped it on to shape it right and sparyed it on, took off the card in the mornin sanded it down sprayed it again left it a while sanded it again till it fitted and its perfect, did it about 2 years ago and havent had any trouble with it. Apparently theres another use, you can use it on cars.
  4. Yeh, Somebody else has a great mind aswell At my local pool most carp are caught stalking using freelined bread, all the anglers lighl squeezed the bread on and flung it out waiting for there bite. I havent been carp fishing long only about a year and i saw somone use this first time round and well decided to try it. I got really frustrated tht th bread would come off when casting and i couldnt get it out far enough. So once i tried to squeeze it on as tight as i could and ended up virtually with a ball i tried it and had a few tench. So i tried rolling a ball and nicking it on and had loads of tench and even caught me first carp out of the pool which was only 7lb but the pool was well known for its diffculty of cathing any carp at all, prier to using the bread i had fished about 20 night wth only 2 dropped runs and loads of bream. A angler actually saw me using the bread and laughed and said that its supposed to be bread flake fished not a ball, but of cause showed him likwise by hooking a tech second after chucking it in. And in half an hour of him being there i had had 6 tench and at one staged had 2 at the same time. I also hooked to 2 other fish fish either big tench or a carp which sailed of and broke me. But i showed him that how good it works. I havent been out this year but ill definaly try haired bread as youve seemd to catch a few on it, hairing the bread never actually came to me so thanks for the idea. But i see wat u mean by missing fish tho, i usually get a hell of a lot of bites but not catching them, i rekon sometimes the the breads been in the water so long its been washing away bits till its only slighlty on the hair or hook so when the fish goes for it it or takes it, it may fall off inpeeding the hook or the fish getts the bait but thehook doesn't move.
  5. i mainly fish corn as hookbait and anglers have caught big bags on white maggot. Best to start of with corn and if the bites drop of try maggot but if you start to catch small fish then switch back to corn. Forgot to say its best to fish 2 rodlengths out for around first 2 hours then switch to margins, unless you see them swirling early on the. Last time i went i caught 1 out in front in the first 15 minutes, but switched then straight to margins as they seemed to prefer feeding close to the reeds. Dont forget to fish down 1 side then switch every so often the let the 1 side settle. And amount of bait, take a pint of white maggots and a frozen bag of corn, frozen bag is better as its cheaper and youll need that amount of corn to feed if you really get the carp feeding. And dont forget a bag of there feed pellets get the 1mill ones(1 millimeter diameter). The smaller pelltes work best. No need to buy any of there hook pelltes, noone seems to do any good on them
  6. Start off by fishing around 2 rodlengths out, fish about half depth and chuck in a few grains of corn every so often. Whilst fishing there feed ur margins, most of the pegs have reeds either side, feed a hanfull of pellets down eithr side every 15 minutes. Keep your eye on the margins as as soon as the carp move in you'll see the cap swirling as the feed.
  7. Well my grandad handels our wormery but i can explain wat he does- He has one of those plastic kitchen bins, he got one around 3 foot tall and takes the lid off and puts a slab on top so it doesen't blow away and stops the worms getting out. Inside the tubs he starts of by putting a piece of carpet at the bottome then fill up the tubs a 1/3 off the way up with compost. Then he puts in 1/4 kilo of lobworms from the tackle shop to get it started. He then places enough moss on top of them to bring it up to half full. He then puts another piece of carpet on the top and its finished. My grandad keeps a red worm wormery aswell. So just do everything the same as above but just put a 1/4 kilo of red worms in instead of lobworms. Food wise all you need is potato peelings. Just lift up the carpet on top and pull anway the moss and place the potato peelings on top of the compost and place everything back to how it was. And if you make a red worm wormery, then place any used teebags you have in alongside the potato peelings. Never take out the teebags as this is were most of the red worms are born, the baby red worms eat the insides till there big enough to come out. And for best results after youve set them up then dont take out take any worms out around a month, so they can settle and you can get more worms, then you wont be taking more out than being breed. When wimnter comes either stick them in a shed or cover them with carpets and binbags.
  8. Ive only fished mucky meadow and furnace pool. But both pools seem to fish the same, corn works best on all the complex. Make sure u get some of there feed pellets, they are the diffrence to ctaching and not in some circumstances. Will u be fishing pole or rod?
  9. Do you know which pool your fishing?
  10. ive had carp grab meat when ive lifted my rig out the water when pole fishing, usually i start to lift pole up and about half way something would take it. And ive also caught a carp when reeling in my feeder fishing meat, once i was fishing about 50yds out and a fish grabbed it at about 10yds out. And a pool near me sometimes when surface fishing, when im reeling in to rebait a carp will come up and grab it while the bait while it's skimming across the water. So not an unusual accurance, and the noise you heard may be the noise of a carp trying to get the meat. Sometimes i see carp taking bait off the top they make a popping type noise when they come up and take them.
  11. I know its off topic but dog walkers are a pain, such as last year i was taking a walk round me local pool and a carp angler set up and cast to the opposite side of the pool beside a small inlet pipe. And after about 10 minutes as dog cam running through the water by the pipe. The angler shouted to the owner and told him to keep his dog on a lead. The owner came round and started raving that he had no right to tell him wat to do as its a public area and he could do wat he likes. The angler told him to respect the anglers and keep the dog on the lead do he doese'nt go in the water. The bloke raved about how stupid fishing was and even had a pop at me as i said that i fished and even stated the fishing is the most popular sport. He told us to sod off and do a proper sport. Long story short the angler punched the bloke and told him to sod off, or next time his dog jumps in the water he'll personally chuck him in afterwards, never saw the bloke again supposed he got through to him
  12. I own a small pocket knife and a vegetable knife witha 5inch blade (only 1 me mom would let me have). I use the pocket knife for cutting lines etc. and use the vegatable knife for cutting deadbaits and cutting back vegetation, reeds etc. And my pool has regular vistits from the police as its a dodgy area, and a few times a copper has come down to have a chat and saw the knife and asked wat its for and ive told the and they did'nt sem to care. Preety suprised as im only 16, suprised they did'nt lock me up due to the reputation kids in my area has. PS. i would'nt use my knife for protection have me alsatian BEN, and if they get past him ive got me trusty banksticks
  13. Im lucky, every bream i hook at my local pool is 4lb virtually. but me best was 4lb 11oz. I allways fish a cage feeder and me groundbait consists of 2 white loafs of liquidised bread and 1/2 bag of strawberry grounbait to flavour it. For bait i either fish half a lobworm tipped with a red maggot or fish about a dozen red maggots.
  14. 4 1/2 punder, took it on a bread.
  15. I had thesame trouble earlier this week, with the sudden spell of lovely weather they just tend to bask in it why they have the chance, usually the longer it stays warm themore gradula they seem to feed. All though ther on the top try using a feeder, lastt year i couldnt tempt them up in the water so i fished bottome with the feeder and they gradually started going down for the bait and i had a few. Also the baggin waggler is great for carp when there on the top keep chucking it in every so often ringing the bell as they say and there gradually start taking the groundbauit as it falls, untill there more confident and they start taking ur bait.
  16. Thres a load of colleges around which specialise some studies with fishing, im also 16 and next year im going to Penkridge Aquacultural College. They have all the coarses, im taking lessons in fish care and learning everything i need to be a fishery owner. And with jobs, look out for any fishing manufacturers near you, luckily by me theres a preston inovations factory and ive applied there, and surpisingly not many people apply for jobs at tackle companies the manager said. And the beauty of it is when i have a car i can apply for a job in testing out the new tackle they make, allthough u have to take a 2 month coarse to do this as you have to learn how to avaluate the item and underststand wat you need to look out for, it'll be great getting paid for fishing.
  17. yeh shropshire araea, telford to be precise. Went down at 12 till 7 ,thought it would be a good afteroon full of fish . Tried virtuall all me lures and trashed the water to a foam, i even switched me rod to target the carp with a bit of braed but still no fish.
  18. Well we were goin today but me mates unlce fished it for past two days and has caught nowt, he said no one on the lake has been catching. Tried spinning his usual lures but not even any follows. So i popped to me local lake instead and had nowt either, even tried spinning after thesmall perch but didnt see a thing.
  19. My mates uncle lives near wykham. He fishes it regulary and invited us up to impove out technique and help get us some new PB's.
  20. I caught aload of fish on me spinners i bought from poundland and havent had one break actually last year i could only catch on them at one point
  21. i wandered about a spot of lure fishing tommorow evening some time, its given out nice day about 14oC and some cloud cover. Wen i went down tench fishing earlier on last week i saw some small fry bursting out the surface maybe the odd pike or perch about. I might give it a go, and ill let ya know how i do.
  22. If he did steal it. Would it be easy for someone to repaint the boat, change the interior and add a new name and register it again. I was just wandering how easy it would be for someone to do this. As the person may give Frauded or stolen information and details would there be any way of telling the boat. Is there certain things added to a boat which can be put on it to identify it such as markings or numbers.
  23. hey, i went yesterday and had 4. I was only there for 2 hours and i missed about 6 bites wert thefish were taking the bread and missing the hook. I even had some swirling about 5 foot out in 2 foot in the water, they were taking the bread i chucked in when i rebaited. Got broke twice my some carp, i was getting the bites about 14 foot out fishing in a guley which runs round the corner of thepool and was fishing feeding some corn every so often aswell and it worked great. I intend on going later in the afternoon today so ill let ya know how i do. And im going to baden hall tommorow so ill see how there going on a more comercial water which gets fished alot more, the pool i fished yesterday probably hadnt been fished much thsi year so it may explain why i had alot of bites.
  24. I think it was £1 every net i used at cudmore, so it cost me £2. I think some fish fatalitys are caused by keepnets when some stupid anglers keep the fish in the nets over 6 hours. Or they may come when a dieseas is tranfered from another fishery through your keepnet. Some fisheries use a dip and i know for a fact from a scientist at my local college that the dip does not kill serious fish dieces unless the water is kept at above 30oC. When i visit fisheries the dip is usually cold and below 10oC.
  25. What are you on about, when i go to fisheries such as browning cudmore they charge extra for me to use my keepnets not theres, im not gonna rob me own nets . And at the end i dont get me money back. The only place ive been to that supplies there own nets is decoy lakes, this method is best as you dont have to take your own nets so less to carry and no way diseases can come form other peoples nets. By using there nets if they accidentaly get a disease it can easily be contained. And no i did not pay a deposit. I think what i read further up is correct they charge extra incase they suffer fish loses due to keepnets. When i fished there my club also had to pay the extra for nets as you would do if you were pleasure angling so this further backs it up.
