The stiffness & length of a rod can make a diference as well,,,,,a 8ft softish spinning rod will chuck a 28grm dexter all day ,,,,but a 12ft bass type rod will sometimes snatch & snap ,, ive also found that quality of line realy maters when you use 10lb or lower,,,,,it realy hurts when it snaps & off goes another 3quid lure coz youve saved 2 quid on the line,,,,,

Had a big white bucket rover comp come to my part of sea today ,,,,the blokes were all nice blokes to talk to ect ,,,,,B U T ,,,,,,,,,,,,cant these clubs do a check out & chuck back thing on the stuff your not gunna eat,,,,,

I think you will find the freezing process breaks down all the tissues ect & they will turn soft when thawed ,,,but dont chuck them ,,,you can allways stick the mush in a swim feeder for added scent ,, P s if your experiment does work ,let us know,, ime hopeless at keeping rag for any time,, Just a thought ,the river boys use a sort of shrink net for soft baits ,it disolves when its been in the water for a few mins,,,

If your looking for say 50 quid per kid per set up then there are good starter kits out there ,,,,but if you are looking at 50 quid to kit the 4 of them out ..then i think you will struggle ... As for the books ,,go try the local library first ,, or better still go down & watch & ask ,,most blokes if they know you & your kids are interested ,,they will help you ,. see yu ,,rich,

Hi mate ,,the shelter has got to be a beach budy ..it wins hands down every time ,,also a light plastic spade to chuck the ballast on the skirt quickly ,(also saves your hands from glass & dog poo..) As for the suit ,,,i have tryed a few ,,2 piece are best coz u can take the top off when your hot or casting , ive ended up with a penn bottom half & a imax fleece top ,,if it gets realy chucky down i stick a titan smock over the lot ,,,, The only advise i can give u on the expensive breathable stuff ,,,,is its ok till u put pressure on the surfaces ,,then it seems to leak back in ,,,,,,,u know ,,bit like sittin in the buddy with your arms resting on your legs ,,,,that kind of thing ,,,,,,hope it helps just a bit,,,,,,,rich,

Teles have come on in leaps & bounds ,,,,i do a lot of spinning , but to be quit honest i would go for a 2 piece about 9ft long ive stuck to a old abu , it beats some of this hyped up modern crapp hands down ,,the little shimano spinning reals are sh*t hot as well ,they come with spare spools so if you get a prob ,, u ,just chuck it in your bag & put a spare spool on ,,, ,

We had a gill netter down here a while back ..80 yds out every 2 days for about 2/3 weeks , i phoned all the relevant people ,,no joy ,,,even used the health & safety angle for swimmers ect,,, i watched 1 morn & they had all the 3lb bass that seem to be missing now arround here ,,,,,, still every cloud has a silver lining ,,,,the storms ripped the whole lot up one day & destroyed them on the local groynes ,,,, haa haa.... see there is a god ,,,,,,

Probably not the answer your looking for , but i fish on a headland ,,,when the boats go out past me with a 2 stroke all i can smell is neat fuel ,,,it stinks for yonks ,the bloke i admire most comes past in a 15ft with a little diesil motor banging away ,,ok he takes 1 hour as oposed to 20 mins ,, but what goes through my mind is he has just done the same trip ,,on 5ltrs of diesil , and he has got a better tan ,,,,,,

Hi mate , a tad to late i think ,but try the spinners/plugs in the rocks at st catherins point or float fish /spin off of the pier at sandown,,,, next time a ..nice spot though init,,,,iow,,,

Its started down our way as well ,,,the sand dunes & even the main road to the beach are full of cans ,bottles ,,boxs , u name it its there ,, its clased as a nature reserve as well ..,,,blimey & we have only had a few sunny evenings so far,this year,,,one good thing though. aint seen so many amo packets this year ,,,YET,,,

1 me in a fit state 2 beach budy to hide in when it all goes wrong 3 good pair of pliers (wonderfull things pliers ) 4 provisions drink & foooooood,, 5 telescope to see what the others are doing /catching 6 some mates to tell jokes to 7 box full of multipliers ..or just the 1 fixed spool 8 selection of rods hopefully one of the tops will fit at least fit one of the bottoms 9 car park money 10 taxi fare home coz ure so called mated have spiked your coffee hopes this helps , you jusy dont know what u are getting in to ,,

i to love a few mackeral for the table or the barbie ,, but when ive got a few if i want to carry on with the bashing gear i just stick 1 jelly worm on 4ft from the weight & play practice casting ,,,, far to many people keep going with a 6 string ,well after they have had loads ,, i go down to a spinner ,,,even from chesil & had loads of fun with 1 at a time cant understand the waste at the bins some times,,

hi ...... some of that fladon stuff is quite good to start with , but tends to be a bit heavy ,,, after all she is only 5 ..........a carp rod & a 2oz lead will be a good bet ,,,,then if she is still in to fishing in a few years ,,, she could upgrade & you will have a good float / spinning rod ...but failing that ,,,one of the grauvell combos from veals might be on the cards ,,,,,,,,,long light & pingy .......might work,,,,,,

hi mate ,,if you cast overhead then go for the longer rod ,,with all these modern materials the 3 or 4 piece is ok unless your power casting ,,as for the reel 15lb line with a tapered shock leader even on a fixed spool rod ..will work fine ,,but one bit of advise ,, you can get away with a cheap fixed spool ,, but dont buy a cheap multiplier ,,,,,,rich

i saw a cormorant with a 12 inch eel ,,,he swallowed it drank water to flush it down,,,,,,,,up it came again ,,each time it was grabed again,,,,,,,it was about 20 mins to swallow that catch ,,,
