It must be about five years since i last had my licence checked. I river fish a lot these day and more than often its on very quiet rural stretches overgrown that most bailiffs dont venture. In the days when i fished busy waters eg club lakes and pits. Checks where more freqent

Ive had mine checked around once per year at the most but I have no objection to buying a licence as I have been witness to lots of other benificial things they have done besides spending time trapesing the banks.

Had mine checked 3 times in the last 10 years - including one time when the EA bailiff turned up to an Anglersnet fish-in I'd organised! (I found out later he'd learnt about the event lurking on here!)

Just the onc in 10 years by an EA bailiff, but twice by council officers.

I don't mind in the least - far from it. They're usually a great source of information.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

Not in the last 10 years, but i used to get it checked all the time when i fished the NRA beats on the River Lune and sometimes twice in one day.

Sellers of day tickets should not be allowed to sell if the angler doesn't have a licence.

I agree and it should be made law so the seller can be prosecuted if someone is found fishing with a day ticket but no rod license. that way the message would soon get out and the EA could get on with spending its time and money on better things.

I get checked like I was part of a bunch of grapes - frequently then not at all for awhile.

In the US each state is responsible for issuing their own licenses. Since I fish a great deal on public land I would say I get checked at least once annually and sometimes every time I go out for month in a row. Bare in mind a "resident" fishing license (one from the state where you live may be as little as $10.00. And, all states that I can think of have free fishing days. Many states actually sponsor fishing events to get people out fishing.

We have no national license.
