Not a protester - just a newsagent trying to go home and already turned away from several exits by the police.

 

Not being confrontational - he was walking away with his hands in his pockets.

 

He was hit with a baton and shoved to the ground. Although he did get back to his feet, he colapsed and died moments latter.

 

Assuming that a causal link can be established between the shove/baton strike, it looks like a clear cut case of manslaughter.

 

Spot on, very sad

He was trying to get home and had already been refused exit from the area at other locations. What precisely did you expect him to do?

 

Maybe it's you that should read things properly. If you did you'd read that he wasn't a "newsagent" on his way home, he was a homeless drunk who spent his days sat drinking and chatting to paper sellers. You'd also see a photograph of him deliberately stood in the path of a riot van, lighting up a fag, over an hour and twenty minutes earlier. Wasn't in much of a hurry to get home, was he? My interpretation of events is the same as before. A man who'd had a few too many, going to gob off at the riot cops for a bit of a laugh.

Obviously that does NOT excuse what happened, but we have to recognise that we live increasingly in a police state and the thugs in the Met have carte blanche to act this way, so sensible people keep well away from them.

Strange that in a city where the public are under constant CCTV surveillance not one CCTV camera captured the incident. If it hadn't been for pictures shot at great risk by members of the public this police killing would have been brushed under the carpet, like who knows how many others.

From what was shown and written, it looks like she asked for a slap and got it.

 

If a bloke had grabbed the copper's arm like that and then been in his face in the same manner, he'd have got the same and nobody would have said much.

 

I don't see why people think it's okay to taunt the police like that. If they went up to anybody else and did it, they'd get a good hiding. For some reason, though, it's seen as 'allowed' if it's 'just a copper' to swear and verbally abuse someone, then go home and brag to your mates in the pub about how tough you are.

 

The police are human beings, too, and deserve the same rights as any other citizen.

Incidents like this are worrying in that they reflect the standards of our police, and so far as training and significantly discipline goes, they are found to be wanting. Over reacting against demonstrators and even rioters leaves me assured that giving them all firearms without first a major training shake up would be dangerously wrong.

It's all very well talking in general terms but in this instance i'm still humble pieing as i'm not sure if she had arranged the deal with max clifford before the event. Looking at it again, she was also directing a few explenatives in the coppers direction, what did she want a camera for, sight seeing. It looks as if the copper was also trying to direct his attention to the crowd in front of him, this woman was trying her hardest to get his attention from the rear and it looks as if she was successful.

You could be quite right that in this case behind the scenes variables could be significant. However we see enough of this type of thing, and no doubt many of us have first hand experiences to tell to keep us wary of letting the police get beyond themselves.
