John S:

For those who have asked how to get their avatars - Post the original picture on here or email it to Gray-Catchpole. He will then resize it and put it onto a website (once he gets his computer sorted), and will then notify you on here. Then all you have to do is go into your profile and change your avatar   :)

However, it does seem like he's having a few problems with his computer right now, so please be patient   :)

Take care

Does ultimateBB allow the option for users to post their own avatars and if not what size in pixels do you require the avatar to be?

Hi Gray,

I am sorry, but wheatsmum and myself are sharing the same computer and I don't know how to transfer this over to her side. This is the avatar that she wants.

rabster:

I've just e-mailed a piccy to Gray.

What happens next? Does he sort it & update it on my profile? or notify me when that needs to be done??

Just curious.

Cheers

Well it's getting on two months since I e-mailed the picture I would like to use as my avatar.

Since then I've p1ssed two people off by selecting their personal avatar, whilst waiting for my one to be made available. I reckon they were quite right to be annoyed, their uploaded image shouldn't even be available as an option to others.

I know it's trivial, but I find it a tad strange that such a big site as this has problems with letting new users get their choice of avatar up & running. I know it can cause problems with bandwidth etc & maybe Anglers Net has a bigger issue with this because of the size of the site, but come on guys (& gals) get it sorted. Us newbies want to establish our own identities as well.

Sorry to criticise, I know I don't post too much on here (mainly as I don't have too much expert advice to contribute) but I do spend a lot of time reading posts & gaining loads of useful info.

I reckon there would be no stopping me with my own avatar!!

"Guys (& gals)"?

That's me, after I've done a day's work, sorted my wife and daughter out and then switched on the PC to see what's going on. The moderators (and Gray), are all volunteers who do this after work.

Anglers' Net is still a 'voluntary' site.

Gray, who does the avatars, was unemployed last time I spoke and just had his hard drive pack up. I saw him sign into Messenger for the first time in ages today :)

Sorry to sound 'moany', but this site is run by me and my mates - any problems, email me and I'll do my best to sort it...but don't promise anything :D

That's meant in good humour, by the way - I realise that Anglers' Net as a whole portrays a bigger image, and am proud of it :)

Tight lines,

Elton
