For newcommers to An or for people who wonder what /why/who we are talking about, they could do worse than to put Alan's name in to the search facility and read some of his old posts, either in sea fishing or from here ..there are some gems.!

...When the dust has settled maybe one of the posters closer to Sonja could contacted her re us all clubbing together at AN and providing something from us all...

I have just had an offer that has really moved me regarding the above post - Not going to go into too much detail at the moment but I have a further request - Are there and Jewellers on the site?

Izaac and Bernard have a new fishing companion.

In all my years on AN, this is the worst news I have read. I've had to leave the room a few times too, and can't see the screen properly now. Like most of you I've never met Alan, but we've bought stuff from each other and he was always both honest and trusting. We are all worse off for Alan's passing.

We'll all remember you Alan. Your sense of humour and strength of character should be an inspiration to us all.

RIP my friend

It's rare for me to be stuck for words.

I just don't know what to say. When I joined AN Alan was having treatment then. I guess I missed him at his best. R.I.P.

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness I can show to any fellow - creature, let me do it now, let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
