For the past few days this is the first thread i've read straight from booting up after getting in from work.

I sat in my office last night and started to think about Al and the fun we all had at Yately (Gray catchpole, scoobs, Al, chainsaw, expat stu and myself), I rememberd Al going into the lake just to have a picture taken so he could raise that little bit more for Macmillans, he held his drink up and within seconds was on his backside but still laughing.

I remember him threatening to stop off at our fuel station when he came over to collect his new toy (a boat), he rang me the following night to let me know he'd got home safe and couldn't wait to launch his toy, he was wondering if there was anyway he could get from holland to stafford using just the boat, what a sense of humor that guy had.

I knew it wasn't going to happen but i looked in everyday just hoping Al wouldbe posting again with one of his stupid but whitty comments, now i know he won't ever be doing it again and i can't explain the pain and sadness in my heart after reading what Norrie has posted :(

To all of you that have posted about crying..well as some know i ain't no softee and am far from gentle but i have tears streaming down my face right now and its near impossible to see the keyboard for them but at least i know they are being shed for someone who truley deserves them

RIP Alan, life, Earth and An ain't gonna be the same without you mate.

Our thoughts are with Sonja.

Love Alan and family

Rest in peace my virtual friend. You lived your life well and inspired so many of us with your courage. Your resolve, humour and spirit will never be forgotten.

Nothing else to say except goodbye, mate.

It's not often you shed a tear for someone you never met but, thats how it is now and it just goes to show what a truly remarkable chap Alan was, you were all that was good on AN and long may that spirit continue in your honour.

Rest easy my friend

Love and a big hug to Sonja, Alan could never speak highly enough of you.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we are all thinking of you.

Gareth
