What awful news! Please pass on condolences to the family from both Peggy and me.

Unfortunately we never did meet Alan. Several times he hoped to get to Wingham, but never did.

One thing's for certain - this forum will be poorer for his passing.

Sorry, my eyes have been leaking too much to post. We have lost a truly GREAT man. I was reading through trying to think of something original to say when I read Norries posting. I went outside smartish for a breath of fresh air as I was in a room full of people.

Elton - I'll send something to you to pass on to Sonia if you think it is suitable.

Don't Grieve for me for now I'm free,

I'm following the path God has laid you see.

I took His hand when I heard Him call,

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work, to play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I found that peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Oh, yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I've savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,

God wanted me now, He set me free.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there, I do not sleep

I am a 1,000 winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on snow

I am the sun on ripened grain

I am the gentle autumn rain

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled light

I am the soft star that shines at night

Do not stand at my grave and cry

I am not there; I did not die.

My thoughts are with Sonja and Alans family at this very sad time. At least his suffering is now at an end. I just add these few words that have offered comfort to me in my own times of loss; make of them what you will.

DEATH is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away to the next room.

I am me and you are you, whatever we were to each

other we are that still.

Call me by my old familiar name.

Speak to me in the easy way, which you always used.

Put no difference into your tone.

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me.

Let my name be ever a household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow in it.

Life means more than it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.

There is absolute unbroken continuity...

Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight?

I am but waiting for you, for an interval somewhere,

very near, just around the corner.

All is well.
