It's snowed nearly all morning here in East Kent. However it's not nearly as bad as Sunday. Having said that, several main roads are closed as indeed are many schools. Peggy's just hoping that the school she's working at tomorrow is closed........

As the highest point in the Southeast, our town has just featured on the lunchtime TV news, with photos of lots of lorries stuck in the snow.

 

Have about 2 inches of wet snow at the moment. A huge artic has just taken half an hour to pass the end of my drive. A six-axle job, with just one driving axle.

 

Lots of guys scurrying about gritting under the wheels, winning an inch or so at a time.

 

Snow is not as new here as the bimbos on telly seem to think. We had a seven-week freeze up in 1947 from mid Feb till the end of March.

 

Three of us walked to school along the railway line (7 miles) - thought it a bit of a lark. We were given a free school dinner when we got there at noon (not sure if that was reward or punishment) and sent straight home again.

In Cheltenham we rarely get snow, but it has snowed the weekend, Monday, Tuesday and again today. Birdlip hill is impassable!!

snowy all last week here in south wales, i poped out just now and it snowed, rained and then hail stoned all in two or three mins, i wish it would bucket down and get it over and done with .

Hissing down with rain all day on the coast on the suffolk coast (felixstowe)

Monday we had 4 inches of snow while west suffolk only had thick fog.

Err brilliant sunshine here -Cumbrian coast- really quite pleasant, even the fells are pretty clear :confused: although we have had a hailstorm !!. The daffys are bloomin marvellous

Last I heard, more than 400 schools in Kent had either closed or were closing.

 

Seems like they shut at the first sign of a snowflake these days.

 

How come they didn't close so readily when I was a teacher...?
