Tips/Gratuities......??

As we approach Christmas, the subject of Christmas "boxes" is being discussed in our house.

 

Who do you "tip" at Christmas, if anybody ?

 

We "tip" the Paper Deliverer (in their hand, not at the Shop) and thats about it.

Should we be more generous ?

I dont tip anyone as they are getting paid to do that they have done,i think that makes sense. :confused:

don't mind if the vicar gives me a bottle of communion wine for fixing his church, wouldn't expect money off anyone though

i dont go anywhere that would need a tip ,in fact the only one i have ever given was "look both ways before you cross the road" the chambermaid was most perplexed ,well she was french.

tips are an excuse to pay low wages the employee more tax

I only ever tip in restarants and then only if there is no service charge.

I don't tend to withold a tip for bad food or service - I simply challenge the manager and walk out paying for nothing other than drinks.

personally i always try to remember to leave the bin men something...... they empty out fish heads/guts, deer heads, geese remains and other ghastly bits from our bin every week, they deserve it to me.

Waiters and cabbies. Any plumbers, electricians, etc working in my house usually get plied with copious quantities of tea and bacon sarnies in lieu of the folding stuff.
