Yet another case of all that is well with this country.

Pieces of **** like that man ought to shot. He wants to strut the streets with his cocky swagger looking all mean and hard , walking with his 'mean' dog while slugging away on a can of what will probably be superstrength lager and run away mid-attack. Absolute dickhead. Pardon the swearing but i was advised not to use numbers instead of letters in abusive language.

An easy way to release the dog was not used though , well 2 ways actually. If it was male then grab his nuts and twist or if female (or) male grab a big handful of the inside of its back leg. Word of warning though , get ready to remove your hand in any of the above procedures , they do work but the dog isn't very happy one iota and can present you with a nice crimp on the arm if you're not quick enough. In my experience with dogs , the second one works better.

The guy is probably bragging off to his mates about how hard his dog is , thus being owned by him how hard he is.

The dog was described by police as a muscular terrier, possibly a cross-breed, brown with white paws, and with white around its nose.

So it was a pit bull. A banned dog. If existing laws were implemented by the police, the damned thing would have been impounded and destroyed by the police on the first day that it was taken out of the house as an adult dog.

There were dozens of them in my old neighborhood but of course, nothing was ever done.

No doubt there will be much hand wringing by politicians and a new law will come out of the incident to show that government will deal with society's ills and everyone will feel much better about it.

I think he ran away mid-attack thinking his dog might follow him.

Absolute dickhead.

Yep probably

The guy is probably bragging off to his mates about how hard his dog is , thus being owned by him how hard he is.

He didn't look to happy about what was happening to me. Maybe it was the shame of his stupidity that made him leg it afterwards.

London is full of thes sorts of "people"

Could we not go back to having licences for dogs. We could emply officers to stop dog owners in the street, if you dont have a licence for your dog it would get taken off you and to get a licence you would need to have a vet certificate showing the breed was not banned.

The service could be funded by processing seized dogs and exporting them as meat to the far east.

It does not realy matter whether they catch him as all that will happen is he may get a small fine and maybe be banned from keeps gogs for 12 months. Why do they never ban owners for life? But then again who checks up to see if a banned owner has a dog.

I know of a few dog owners who now rarely take their dogs for walks for fear of them being attacked by other dogs.

Stephen

Yeah I recognise him as pitiful scum that has so little self-esteem that he needs a 'hard' dog. He probably spends his life 'being hard', the ****.

They say there are no 'bad' dogs, only poorly-socialised ones. I disagree. The bull-terrier branch were specifically bred for 'gameness'. It's a breed characteristic. When they go for it they intend to finish the job or die in the attempt. They have little ability to back off when outgunned or recognise that their opponent is defeated, whether it's another dog or a child. That's what they were bred for.

In this respect they are 'bad' and have no business around people at all except - just maybe - the owner, and only the owner. Let him take his chances.

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.

I believe the pitbull isn't a recognised breed in the UK so any staffy cross bred could in theory be classed as a pitbull

as long as it fits certain criteria, Infact the law calls them "pitbull type dogs" and here is DEFRAs guide to classifying them - The standard used to identify a PBT is set out in the American Dog Breeders Association standard of

conformation as published in the Pit Bull Gazette, vol 1, issue 3 1977 – please refer to this for the full

description and also relevant cases20 as this is only a brief overview. Although the law does not require

a suspected PBT to fit the description perfectly, it does require there to be a substantial number of

characteristics present so that it can be considered ‘more’ PBT than any other type of dog.

• When first viewing the dog it should appear square from the side, and its height to the top of

its shoulders should be the same distance as from the front of its shoulder to the rear point of

its hip.

• Its height to weight ratio should be in proportion.

• Its coat should be short and bristled, (single coated).

• Its head should appear to be wedge shaped when viewed from the side and top but rounded

when viewed from the front. The head should be around 2/3 width of shoulders and 25 per

cent wider at cheeks than at the base of the skull (this is due to the cheek muscles).

• The distance from the back of the head to between the eyes should be about equal to the

distance from between the eyes to the tip of its nose.

• The dog should have a good depth from the top of head to bottom of jaw and a straight

box-like muzzle.

• Its eyes should be small and deep-set, triangular when viewed from the side and elliptical

from front.

• Its shoulders should be wider than the rib cage at the eighth rib.

• Its elbows should be flat with its front legs running parallel to the spine.

• Its forelegs should be heavy and solid and nearly twice the thickness of the hind legs just below

the hock.

• The rib cage should be deep and spring straight out from the spine, it should be elliptical in

cross section tapering at the bottom and not ‘barrel’ chested.

• It should have a tail that hangs down like an old fashioned ‘pump handle’ to around the hock.

• It should have a broad hip that allows good attachment of muscles in the hindquarters and

hind legs.

• Its knee joint should be in the upper third of the dog’s rear leg, and the bones below that

should appear light, fine and springy.

• Overall the dog should have an athletic appearance, the standard makes no mention of ears,

colour, height, or weight.

if pit bulls are not recognised as a breed then any staffy cross (or mongrel) cannot be seen as "pitbull"(ie american pit bull type) they are either staffies or mongrels (seemingly a cross nowadays is worthy of money wheres a mongrel was not)

a Staffordshire bull terrier is nothing like a pitbull terrier so anything looking like one would be Staffordshire pitbull "type" rather than the reverse ,seen a pukka real american pitbull and its gape alone would be hard to reproduce using any dog except a buggered up mastiff.

remember its american pitbulls that are banned not other pitbulls who's shapes are as varied as the countries they come from.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_Bull

i would say theres a fair bit of boxer in the american staffordshire terrier.

the breed that was in pits with bulls are extinct the ones we see now are victorian visions of what they should be like :D

the pit bull part has long gone so short legs are not needed so modern american pit bulls are longer legged as they are bred for dog fighting not bull fighting ,we have legislated against both so our staffies remain on pretty short legs there was no dog fighting as such to "evolve" longer ones so they can get behind the head of its opponent to the vulnerable neck.

pity the chap couldn't train it to let go it on command

The PBT lines are kept alive in part by ***** in the City's big estates who cross breed with Staffs so they can try the nah mate he is just a big Staffy ,Staffs have unfortunately for them become the Chav dog of choice but when cross bred with the latter imo are just ticking time bombs what with the average owners lack of dog training ability/understanding and there genetic programing of wanting to scrap anything on four legs or two legs if they intervene.

If caught with one most likely they get let of with a caution unless Fido has chomped poor old Granny Smith as well as her Yorkshire terrier ,Sad men living out there i am hard fantasy through there dog and like earlier posters have said the De rigour can of Stella and stand in the middle of the pavement with that go round me look or my dog will..... .

New laws in the offing when this becomes more commonplace as it surely will ?yes they are bound to give it the old we are drawing a line in the sand thingy and this will not be tolerated blah blah blah but is enforcement likely ? and even if caught no place in prison available so the dog gets put to sleep as it should and then the geezer gets a slap on the wrist and then goes to meet a fella down a backstreet to buy another Staff x PBT without papers for £100 i believe is the going rate ,Send the owners to the vets when caught at the same time as the dogs ?? Eureka !! .

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales

have I told you abouit the cruise control on my Volvo ,,,,,,,bla bla bla Barder rod has it come yet?? and don`t even start me on Chris Lythe :bleh::icecream:
