Really enjoyed the lastest episode. I know it involved netting and spearing but it just showed how those Amazonian folk scratch out a living. You got to love the guy,even the wife comments on his casting abilty !!!! :rolleyes:

I was a little surprised he gave up on the spear chucking for the Arapaima. He done it for a while and so had no ethical problems with it. Considering it's a once in a life time oppurtunity you think he would have stuck at it until the bitter end. That's one of the things I question about him, he gets to fish these wonderful places and seems to pack it in so easy or moans because he has not caught quickly. There always seems to be a lot of him sitting around while the guide fishes hard, but he is always in to hold up their fish for the trophy shot. I think most anglers would fish until they droped given the chance to fish the locations he gets to go. When ever I have fished exotic destinations the guide practicaly has to wrestle the rod out of my hand at the end of the day when its time to go. I thought northerners were made of sterner stuff.

Yep. last night he struggled to catch two piranha - one of the easiest fish to catch on the planet.

Concentrated on telling us of the dangers of piranha fishing - hilarious listening/watching to anyone who has caught and handled plenty of piranhas. He gave up on the arapaima far too easily.

 

He may think he is coming across as macho, but to someone who has fished similar locations, his hyping up of the "dangers" just gives the impression of a big girl's blouse.

 

Lovely locations though, and worth watching just for that, and the obvious skills of the locals at what they do.

...and the Brazilian lady footballer was superb :) pity we didn't see more of her.

From previous series' what annoys me most is his poor fish care absolute disregard for the fish he's catching....I nearly blew a fuse on one of his Baramundi hurling episodes!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Have to confess I did start to watch it for that very reason, it's such a shame he had to spoil it, I gave it a miss after the second piranha.

Sorry if this has already been posted but just spotted it in the papers. His last series certainly provoked mixed reaction :rolleyes: He starts off fishing for catfish at Lake Kariba for catfish. Following on from his last series he will either be trying dynamite or cyanide !!!!!

Do you mean Robson 'I tried hard to be a good actor & failed' Green. In my humble opinion if Robson is "in" a programme don't watch it 'cos it'll be bloody terrible. He occasionally 'does' these historical N.E. England things & they're so bad they make my toes curl. <_< In terms of fishing, give me Hayes & Brown anytime. :)

Two very good reasons to watch the shows, plus I just enjoy seeing exotic fish who ever catch's them. It's just a shame that his "travel presenter skills" are not up to much.
