At the end of the day those that read it enjoyed the fact that as Davy r pointed out it wasnt the same old tired subjects, nor was it full of product placement.

Me? Did I? Where?

It wasn't just us 'tired boring old faces' on here, have a look on any forum (cemex, FM, MD, etc...) and you'll see the same thing. No matter. The 'up yours' is a nice touch, see you when you have another book out :)

no no come on all just get along, this is about discussion not abuse.... :headhurt:

look i will agree on this site everyone is quick to jump on and kick off at anything new and it seems to me a lot of people get jealous, this is a fact and somthing i have been documenting on here, i could prove this if need be, and it's a shame, why can't we just support what needs to be supported instead of i don't like it, i have never seen nor heard of it so i don't like it will not work. i know so as i am the best... well nobody says "i am the best" but it's therethe feel of it.. this mag could of been good, this was a first issue for god sake, all first issue of any mag go wild to get people intrested, so what if it had a titty popping out, after a while it won't be as bad it would calm down, and to be honest i've seen a few of you comment on a naked woman fishing from a boat holding a fish... so to me some of you are Hypocrites, i think we should be supporting every company to boost the fishing inderstry not slam it.... as mark explained near a year ago it was £800 for advertising now under £300.. the sales seem to be doing well, and personally i think the mag was getting 15 year olds more into fishing and showing them that it's not all about rain coat men sitting and holding thier balls in a bush for a fish....

i wish i could of helped the company, but the help needs to be in advertising.. not my specialty.. maybe my wife could but not i..

but like i said stop slamming everything new becuase you lot did not come up with it...

thats my 2 cents and pea pod on this :sun:

An interesting theory, but way off the mark, on this topic at least. As Anderoo mentioned, the reaction to F&T was very similar on other angling forums. Are they too populated by jealous types who wished they'd thought of such an original concept, do you think?

Well Dean, I don't know where you get the "a lot of people get jealous" thing from, I've not seen anything even remotely like that in the 6yrs I've been a member. Nor the "I am the best". This forum has some of the most experienced anglers on any forum, and they all are willing to happily share that experience and knowledge.

All most of us did was gave an opinion, which thankfully is still allowed.

Oh, and considering the content of the mag, I'd be wary of putting this in print as well, "i wish i could of helped the company, but the help needs to be in advertising.. not my specialty.. maybe my wife could but not i.. " :D

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Dean you must be a adverting man's dream audience :D

There are many worthy things in the world that should be supported but Tackle Companies and Publishing Houses are not two of them. I will let you in to a secret they are in it for the money ;)

So when did "discerning" start to mean "jealous"?

I'm sorry to see it go too, it was good to see an angling mag that didn't force manufacturers down your throat with every article. In these days when we are being attacked on all sides by various groups, we should be supportive of anything that promotes angling. Okay, I thought some of the things in it were a bit too juvenile, but I'm not really in their target audience (age-wise). If it's convinced a few youngsters to start fishing though, then at least it has achieved some success.

Pulling it after just one issue though is just completely daft, they never even gave it a fair trial

Best wishes Mark.

BTW, is there any chance that some of the articles that were meant for future issues could be printed here instead, or would that infringe copyright?
