If you want to reduce the carp numbers as suggested. Then ask the farmer if you can dig another hole, and put half the carp in there.

Don't put any water in though, just the carp.

And if the farmer grows runner beans, it's smiles all round.

This place is nearly impossible not to catch. Me an a mate have had 37 fish between us today from a couple of lb upto 17lb. All fin/scale perfect. Not heaviley fished for a long long time.

Does the owner know how well stocked it is? Just thinking a quick fix from the owner might be to sell the whole stock to another fishery. If they are in good condition and in large numbers, he could afford to loose a few to tests and still make a tidy sum with out any further hassles.

yea lets not tell him that! :D

@ Steve, that is the sort of fee iam thinking, £20-£30 a year ish.

Just a little note, this is not intended to make me any money its strictcly for the joy of it.....at the moment. I just like the idea of having control over a water, making it a place i would like to fish and sharing that with like minded people.

That's what I assumed after you put me right with my first post...

But I still think it is very important to secure your personal position with the owner and to be safe that means a legal contract which is on a personal basis very simple and cheap no solicitor should charge more than about £100.00 for it and you can even download information and forms for it from the net.

In your place assuming you know little of the legal aspects and ramifications I would suggest asking how your local club organises their leases.

hay hay, if i be honest mate sounds like you just pluckin at straws to find a "get rich quick" scheame, unfortunatly this will not happen, and could take years, i'll run a few basics:

1:you will need to go around asking angler around your area or lakes/canals/rivers on what they would like to see done to that to bring them into the lake more.

2:Advertising: this spreads in to los of paths, 2A:new managment advertising, explaining that you are pouring money into fix the place up 2B: local press to get the backing 2:c new low pricing.

3:maintance of fish keeping, this is not an easy job, if you miss treat the lake/pond for 1 day you will be paying out of your back pocket.....

these are just 3 pointers, wich will end up turning into 50 pointer inturn will equal £££

i know i sound harsh but i know a few things about this: also what watatoad makes a valid point, lawerrs... you going to need a private one who will know the situation. also you need to be coverd in case of a so called angler that sued a place not to long ago, so you will need to get that coverd, thi costs money and time, see more and mmore stuff just adds money.

Would personally not really interest me but I think you'd be best off leaving it as it is, 'cept maybe a few swims hacked out for you and a few close friends.

This would probably give you the most joy. If you and a few others keep it to yourselves then you will enjoy the benefits and from the sound of it, at not much outlay without all the boll@cks that goes with trying to make it a commercial entity.

However, if you do want to give it a go, all the best to you and good luck.

Fantastic, the best line written in these forums.

Life is way to short an precious to waste fishing pointless waters like that.

hay hay, if i be honest mate sounds like you just pluckin at straws to find a "get rich quick" scheame,

you've not bothered to read anything so ive only read your first line. Ive said that this is non profit, not a get rich quick scheme. I more than make a good income, its not about money, but thanks....

@Renrag Pond, banks etc would remain pretty much untouched apart from nessacary tidy/maintenace. For example, theres a tree growing from the middle which could do with a foot cutting back all round. Theres also some small snags that if removed can create some nice swims. Theres also a tyre! :D

Im swaying really towards the small syndicate/club/group of lads. Ive been asking around, asking mates an gettin mates to ask mates and theres quite a bit of interest. I cant get people to join just through word of mouth i reckon, try an keep it a bit personal cos i do like the sound of that. I think what is going to happen is use we this a starting point. Keep it pretty much unchanged. get a contract drawn up and just see how it goes. I dont want to say use it for learning as that sounds like im going to experiment and take risks with the fish, which wont happen. Ordered some books today :)

Guys, thanks for taking the time to read this and give me your advice, its all duely noted. Special thanks to Watatoad, it really is good advice that thanks! :)

maybe to you, but plenty of people like fishing easy waters.

I like going sitting for 4 days on the bank to pull one or two BIG fish out. Spending half a day with the marker float, mapping out the bottom, deciding on the best rig for the job, thinking hard about bait choice, boilie and glug combo, stringer or stick mix, watching the water never taking my eyes off it and never closing the bivvy door all to be rewarding with large beautiful carp.

On other days though i like sitting on a pond with minimal float gear catching fish after fish and having fun. (think match anglers, they cant get enough and you cant argue that).

And like ive said, twice. Even though this water is easy you still need to know how to fish. I remember fishing a feeding shoal of mackerel. You could just run a bare hook through them and catch, For 10 minutes it was fun.....this isnt like that. Ive caught some big fish in this country and without sounding like a prick, i really do know what im doing when it comes to carp (fishing). Ive fished some very hard waters (i live up north for fook sake there all hard! :D) and had some very nice fish, but for a change i like fishing like this sometimes. And i know a lot of people who feel the same.

Quick Question

1/2 Acre "feature" water. Ie features to fish to (a lot) not like an ornamental feature pond that is fed from a natural spring! :D

Rammed full of carp upto, well we dont really know but i would guess at 20's.

3-4ft deep.

Out of the way so that not knob eds come on, not so far out of the way that its not worth it.

This place is nearly impossible not to catch. Me an a mate have had 37 fish between us today from a couple of lb upto 17lb. All fin/scale perfect. Not heaviley fished for a long long time.

SO, the question. As a fun carp water what would you pay yearly to fish it. I cant get across how easy this place is, on any method. Ive had em on the bottom, pop'd up, zig'd AND on the surface today. My mate was fishin pellet waggler and goin crazy! Any method, any level of skill, here you can catch nice carp! Tickets would limited to 20-30 price dependant.

As you've probably guessed, i might know something ;)

Sounds very similar to our club carp lake....we charge £6 for a day ticket and if you fish it as a waggler pond then you can have days of pleasure there! In fact its only 2 mins from my back door and I regularly haunt its banks after work! Lol!

And your right! There are a lot of anglers who enjoy fishing such places!

Fished for pleasure and as simple as you can and they are superb places to waste a few hours!
