great idea ,just poorly executed ,the basic premis is good ,show kids theres things they can do other than causing trouble/mischief etc .but three uniformed officers is overkill ,unless two was being trained on supervising youths activities .even so they could of done this out of uniform .

All a little formal with the uniforms but the idea is a good one, but I am always a little unsure when often a lot of resources gets used on what could be seen as "rewards" to trouble makers and it could be argued that they could be used on kids who do not get in trouble.

 

But if it has a good effect on some troubled children and helps them turn there livesa round it has to be a positive thing. But whether you think this is a good or bad thing, I guess these are the sort of projects that are likely to be axed in the current financial climate.

Well if they were on a river as the article says they should be nicked for fishing out of season!!

 

Doesn't look like a river to me, more a small lake somewhere Mat. It is overkill though and, as others have said, a good idea that has just been handled incorrectly.

I thought the same looking at the picture - but then again it is in the sun!

 

surely with 3 coppers to supervise they could have take a dozen of so kids for a day out, not just one!!

That would have made more sense and I'm sure the kid would have enjoyed the experience more. It must have been a weird situation for him with 3 officers looking over his shoulder.

personally im well against this sorta stuff. when i was in school the naughty kids used to go on days out and do fun stuff to try and keep them quiet. This is the same sorta ****, kid gets done by the police, instead of gettin a beastin, gets taken ****ing fishing......world gone mad
