So given a few facts I wonder how many are willing to change their minds and applaud Al and his club for offering kids from deprived backgrounds the chance to get a bit of space and do a bit of fishing?

Absolutely - shame there aren't a lot more schemes like this.

Well in Al. Seems like a good venture for whatever reason.

Fishing should be available on the NHS. It's therapy in itself.

personally im well against this sorta stuff. when i was in school the naughty kids used to go on days out and do fun stuff to try and keep them quiet. This is the same sorta ****, kid gets done by the police, instead of gettin a beastin, gets taken ****ing fishing......world gone mad

completly agree with you! must be hard being troublesome!

The comments from the anger junkies on the Sun and Mail web pages are worth a read. The ones along the lines of 'you couldn't make it up' made me smile :)

I agree with all the impotent and wistful sentiments about Britain being a joke and losing its way, barked into the silence of the internet like a sad angry dog, but for different reasons  As I said earlier, as a nation we have the press we deserve.

I wonder how many of them banging on about honest, hardworking people's taxes do jobs for cash?

Anyway, have some more Doug Stanhope B)

If anyone has any questions please either drop me a mail or post on here i will try to get back when i can . cheers big al

Big Al,

Can I donate an unused new reel for the scheme? if so where should I send it to? or can I just hand it in at my local police station quoting the scheme?

Its a good reel with 6 ball bearings; I won it in a competition but I will never need it. and I am sure there must be others out there who would be willing to donate similar tackle that they dont use once the scheme is publicised correctly.

ok so i do feel kinda bad, but i also do stick with what ive said. I agree with helping under priveldged kids, like i said im teaching a kid to fish and have given him a rod, whip and some other bits. It is very rewarding. Anyway i wish you all the best with it. Sean

sean no need to feel bad at all ,local copper said how bad it looked atnd everyone at the station thought so too ,until we let people know the facts it is easy to see the bad side , good on you for teaching a kid to fish ,i helped a lad land a 33lb carp in france last year 10 years old and was his smile big in the pictures .

as to donations of tackle we do have quite a lot but if you want to e mail me i can send my address and if not needed by the scheme could donate to one of lads who wants to keep on fishing if thats ok .thanks for the offer
