It's about that time when the other half asks that question :rolleyes:

 

What are the wants of the forum, given a small budget (under £100). From hooks to rods, for the big one under the tree to small ones for the stocking filler

 

No dodgy calenders or mags please ;)

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

Well I shall be adding a vacuum sealer to my pressie list.

Ideal for both baits and catches that are going into the freezer and I could even use it for small batches of sea hooks so that I can carry loads without worrying about them rusting if they get a splash. Even ideal for keeping tissues and plasters dry in case of a pike related accident.

we have a kitchen one ,great fun i even vacuum pack any decent books i put in the loft for storage :thumbs:

also good for my spare PS2 i keep in the shed ,i get the bags and roll at bootfairs as they are expensive "new"

as they remove most of the air they keep freezer burn at a distance in baits in the freezer,when we buy our fish we wrap each one in greaseproof paper so when you need a couple you dont need to thaw a block of them ,simply cut the bag remove what you want and reseal it

Some new plummets.

For some reason this year I have lost about ten of them - a good few in snags but some just fell off (I think the cork had had it).

Im after a 15ft foat rod suitable for trotting for Barbel and Chub; will probably be looking to get a Harrisons holllow tip float rod or a similar 15ft Greys rod but I will be getting it when the sales start in early january just incase my local tackle shop has their usual after xmas sale.

I rather like the sound of that, I might just add that to my wish list :thumbs:

 

I stocked up on a load of baits the other week and spent ages wrapping them in cellophane before bagging them up in sandwich bags. I could have done with a vacuum sealer.

Thanks to Elton singing their praises, I got one for last winter, and it was one of those 'why have I struggled for years without this?' moments. The ability to warm your hands up instantly at any point on those cold days is fantastic - especially after you've got them wet with icy water when returning fish, making mashed bread, etc.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I'll second that!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!
