Simple question.

 

If you had the power to make one change to fishing rules or legislation, what would it be?

 

I sort of expect posts about there being to many rules already and you enjoy freedom in your fishing, but let's be honest. If you read enough AN post's we all would rather others done something different. They should do it the proper way "The way I do it"

 

It does not need to be anything major, but if you could wave your magic wand and your rule or wish would be passed. What would it be?

 

Here is your chance to stop sleep fishing, have mandatory coarses, set a Pike season, ban Pike gags, free fishing licence for pensioners, choose a mandatory colour for disgorges, set maximum stocking level for fisheries. Your choice :D

I'd personally be tempted to push for much tighter controlo over the levels of stocking that are allowed in commercials: in many paces it is tantamount to animal cruely, and would be prosecuted if the animals in question were of the fluffy variety.

 

I've no problems whatsoever with night fishing - but you are EITHER fishing, OR tucked up asleep, NOT both!

I'd ask that all anglers must pass a test on fishing and all that entails. New anglers would have to be in the presence of a qualified angler.

 

I'm fed up with drunks, litterbugs and general wasters on the bank making the place look like a burnt out tip.

I'd agree with Peter and set fair and sensible stocking levels, I think it's disgraceful that we're allowed to cram thousands of fish into a water that can't naturally support them. What a miserable life.

 

I would also bring back the full closed season on all waters.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I'd make it compulsory for fish to pick up my bait whether they were hungry or not to avoid blanking :D:D:D

If I could have anything at all it would be 2 full time bailiffs each for every river stretch, still water and canal stretch. I think we would see a lot of our gripes disappear if this were the case.

I'm not generally in favour of using the big stick of the law on people who are doing things that aren't my cup of tea. If I had to put some legislation in place to improve fishing, though, I think I would do something to replace all the natural fisheries and habitat which have been lost to development, agricultural efficiency and commercials. I think I'd look at a statutory duty for councils to provide free fishing ponds on public land, something in the planning permission standards to require developers to set aside land for fishing ponds and something to incentivise farmers to replace the ponds that have gone - and I would look at the EA to provide seed stock for these waters (including a breeding programme for real crucians).

i would like to copyright it then charge everyone a quid (i'm not greedy) a year to fish.

rather than training i would ban rubbish tackle available over the counter like lineaffe or fladen crap

 

theres only a fraction of ponds left ,every major road had them a few miles apart for first stock watering then steam engine refilling above and beyond farm and dew ponds and natural and unnatural fish ponds
