Racism or protecting thier interests

My Wife is a traveller although I am not.

 

I can say that travellers make a rod for their own backs and most are opportunists. They get a buzz out of helping themselves for free, the old five fingered discount. The fact that they also separate themselves from society whilst reaping the rewards doesn't help their cause either.

Unfortunately, when travellers come into an area crime rates do rise and it can be directly attributed to them.

Most of them are raised to believe that if they want something, rather than working for it honestly, they can just help themselves. Prisons are full of travellers for one thing or another.

 

They call it "Norking" so if you hear that you know that the person who said it is up to no good.

 

 

This isn't racism or discrimination on the part of Ikea but the store protecting itself from theft.

Not nice to see but apt nonetheless.

I'm always a little disgusted Ikea had to say anything. As far as I'm concerned they have a right to "profile" any way they choose. Tell the "norkinger" it's for his own safety.

There's just about every race and creed under the sum visits Birmingham's markets and a lot of them are short of a few bob and not averse to a bit of anything free.

Against that background, I can honestly say that the only time I've ever seen the traders instantly join ranks and tell someone to f*** off as soon as they walk in the place was with eastern European Roma - and I've now seen it several times.

Without exception, the traders will tell you that they will steel anything and everything and they've simply had enough.

It seems the sentiment is spreading.

Roma Gypsies are by far the worst. I remember a group being caught stealing 10p items from Cancer Research. You always have to watch bags, pockets, pram and hands when they are around.

They even have the audacity of trying to take your rings from your figners. Children as young as 4 are taught how to steal...

 

It is the Gypsy, Traveller way of life and doubtless has always been so.

There are few exceptions to the norm. Those within the traveller, Gypsy community who do not want to steal or behave dishonestly are quickly removed from the community.

My Wife was so removed after being soundly beaten by her 7 Brothers...

My father-in-law travels the country showing his beautifully restored 1947 Wolseley during the months of Summer and Autumn, but is seriously considering packing in because of the rampant thefts by gypsies/travellers endemic to these shows.

 

According to him, they wait until the dead of night and send their children over to steal anything not nailed down. It's made him, and a large proportion of the vehicle showing community so uneasy that many feel it's not worth continuing.

 

Ironic that the majority of the perpetrators are there to sell second-hand goods, of which they clearly have an endless supply.

Guys if you want to frighten off Travellers from robbing you say the following.

 

" You're not Norking my lace sublick." In traveller language you've just told him you know he/she is a damn thief and you're watching them.

 

They have their own secret language too which is called " The Gammon."

 

Nork = Steal.

Wobs = Police.

Sublick = Man.

Bes Nautia = Be careful.

Stall Widding = Don't speak.

Bug the yolk = Take it quick.

Munya Grade = Is either a good hit or a valuable item.

Countryman or Gorji = People like you and me.

Lackien = Girl or Woman.

Corp = Fight.

Munya = Good or go for it depending on the context used.

Gal Ya's = Children under 7.

Mong Boy = Out and out fool.

Quay = Prison.

Taken = arrested or in danger of arrest.

 

Don't trust them an inch...that is from my own personal experience.

 

If you are around travellers listen out for the words I have listed.

I see accusations of racism in the article, but then I go on to read that Ikea are just trying to stop them setting up camp in their car park.

 

I'm sure property developers would be welcome to shop in Ikea, but if they started marking out footings for a housing estate in the car park, then i'm sure they'd get the same treatment.

i was going to post but experience in real life is usually pounced on by some in my experience with AN

i just find it sad nowadays truth when it annoys others who are either blinkered or just using excuses to look big to others is pounced apon as some sort of race hate or pseudo crime nowadays enjoy your post while its here if its anything like the old days it wont be for long.

 

strangely the words i used to use often (immigrants or immigrant related or asylum seekers etc) and get pounced on seemingly are OK to say now the odd MP or more importantly the media say the same thing most probably though they have probably bumped into the experience i noted for themselves

 

i am safe though my mrs is from traveler stock and even has romany blood which the former rarely have as a great number we see are tinkers ,not all are problamatic i know a few good eggs but unfortunately the tar brush is well used with the bad eggs

 

i warned a councilor i was arguing with from a village nearby that the usual sudden caravan on a bit of land would cause them trouble and indeed within a month of the councils inactivity getting it off the land was hard landscaped and a static van appeared ,the new landowner simply said he was being picked on because of his "race" and the council caved in and now sits on a nice plot of land bought for a song as grazing land

 

its this seeming preference for "assisting" foreigners or in this case well versed in the law english people who get around rules with "ethnicity" that annoys the law abiding folks who keep their noses clean and follow the rules who see themselves kicked in the teeth at every oppertunity because they are the real second class citizens

 

the crazy thing was the new landowner was awarded costs so he could appeal against the legal decision the council had ,it said he breached the law in changing the use of the land (it was grazing land),he objected to the decision got costs and the council dared not continue incase he simply did the same again ,i can show a caravan at the warren as well doing the exact same thing and the council caving in because of "costs" (where do these costs come from for the council they already have a legal department which is paid for)
