I was brought up learning that carp were perfect for carrying from the creek to the pot. You jam your thumb in one eye socket and your middle finger in the other. You can carry a couple twenty pounders a mile and a half that way.

 

When I see an old timer doing the same I smile but wouldn't say chit with a mouth full.

 

Ohh, and I believe you did confirm "they are just fish - didn't you? Better get your edit finger going.

 

As for the rest of your post. Just a good way to get the thread closed. You argue like my wife. Totally unrelated BS

Exactly! I've not fish Antartica but everywhere in the world there are fish. Local custom dictate practices. A custom that is very strong in a society and has been long established often has the force of law. I guess you're not supposed to eat fish you catch even if you are starving? That's OK too. I will say, for some reason small islands have the hardest time accepting that they don't make the rules for the rest of us.. Thinking Japan and the UK here. Surprisingly neither of those two islands while fish eaters, eat much of their own fish from aquaculture.

Think i will stick to being rude its a much easier thing to do before or after a hard day at work and at least he seems to understand that. Maybe he as has some experience of it, i could see why he might.
