A sense of urgency - getting ready to move inland

I've been planning a move from the Florida Panhandle where I've been located for several years to South Carolina where a friend has plenty of room for my RV and likes to fish as much as I do. I hadn't realised how much junk I've accumulated and how long it would take to sort it out, bin some, and pack the rest so it will survive a couple of days driving. Even the idea of using my portable air compressor to get 12 largish tyres up to the 90 psi they want (a 2-3 hour job in some pretty intense heat & humidity) was a bit daunting.

Well, Mother Nature has decided to give me some incentive to be on the road not later than this weekend and oddly enough, the incentive shares a name with my favourite grandson. This photo should update automatically every few hours. The thumbnail won't and I'm leaving it just to show my location.

Back to the old neighborhood Newt?

Very close Den. Edgemoor, SC, is about 40 miles due south of Concord, NC, where we lived when you visited.

I actually took Budgie & Andy there to fish with Bobbi, the lady who has offered me parking space on her property. She already has the needed hook-ups (water, sewage, electric) for a caravan since she keeps hers parked near her house & shop.

Fair seas and a following wind, Newt. (no pun intended)

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

Hope the move works out Newt and that the roads aren't to packed with fleeing Floridians.

LOL - as long as the seas are fair, a following wind will be OK and the two days I'll take to drive the 500 miles will be very safe, easy traveling.

The ironic thing is that even if Jan were still alive and we had no plans to move, I'd still be packing and still be leaving to head inland until the storm passed or went where it was going. She hated hurricanes and we moved down here with the promise I'd get us inshore and out of the path of any hurricane that looked to be headed this way.

The problem with these things is that when the centre is within a day of you (small one) or two days of you (biggun), it is pretty well too late to try to go anywhere. High winds, heavy rains, and flooding make it dangerous or impossible.

Drive safe mate and give my regards to Bobbi
