this is my menu

 

starters

borscht (soup)

 

main

marinated zander in wine jelly

herrings in sour cream

carp fillet in rosemary

pierogi (dumpings)

red and white cabbage

turnips

preserves

bread

pigs in blankets

sprouts

turkey legs

 

after dinner

bread pudding

New years day will be a turkey which is still wandering around in my neighbours orchard. :P
I hope the dinde/dindon is hanging up by the back legs before Christmas day or it's going to be a tough old bugger on the Jour de L'An.

 

Have you gone native and celebrate le Réveillon de Saint-Sylvestre as wll as New Years Day

no scallops, cooked on the shell? herring fillets boned, bare, grilled.

same sort of meal wev'e had for the last 5 xmas days.

booked in at local indian.

 

i'm avin :

poppadoms and dips

 

starter: sizzling lamb chops

 

main meal:

prawn dhansk and a nan.......................... burp! :lol:

 

desert: kulfi mango ice cream

 

mince pie

 

glass of bailey's

 

cup of coffee

 

and each woman in the group gets a bottle of cheap plonk.

not bad at 20 quid per head.

I believe our dinner is due to meet her maker this weekend. I am on plucking and dressing duty.

 

New years Eve, or Revellon de Saint-Sylvestre we will be having some of the neighbours, (French and English) around for a glass.

 

Today was my Wife's birthday so we went to a local Bistro where we had (amongst other things) a dozen Esscargot de Bourgogne and Magret de Canard washed down with an inexpensive but very good Rouge de Pays de Loire from just down the road.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

If I was limited to just one meat for the rest of my life it would be venison, preferably from the Roe Deer. Dont know if you have them in a States. A small variety but oh so tender :P
