Elton,

Careful boy! If it weren't for the Americans you would be number one. The U.S. and U.K. obesity rates are the highest among the 34 first world nations.

John,

That helps?

Ayjay,

Per-capita I'd guess? Aren't statistics lovely.

Chesters1,

Yes, we don't mess around. Our potato chips (crisps) are usually sold in 12 oz (340g) bags. That's 5 or 6 raw potatos. Unfortunately my slightly overweight daughter can eat a bag in about half a day - - - one chip at a time and very slowly. Drives me nuts!!

BTW even our single serving bag is 1.5oz or 42.5g

I believe we also consume the most chocolate but the US has us beat on Spray cheese, burgers, sloppy Joe's, tacco's, twinkies, deep fried cheese sticks, curros and nacho's.

Then of course, we have Jamie Olliver going over there and proving that if we thought we fed our kids on an appalling high fat, high salt diet of dubious origins, the Americans can and do go much further.

Ermmm.... yes? Baked or fried in vegetable oil isn't as bad as being fried in fat as you originally stated. Also, having a much reduced salt content is likewise not as bad as being smothered in the stuff, as you also originally stated.

Nowadays, the things are almost healthy eating.
