I have to be honest.

The only concern that I have about whether the UK stays or leaves is how it affects my residence status in France (or other EU countries)

Assuming that because I am a French resident and taxpayer they are not going to throw me out then I wish that the UK would have a referendum and act on the result.

At least then we won't have to listen to (and read) all of the uninformed wingeing we are subject to at the moment.

Would it worry me if the UK left? Not a bit :bye1:

You could always apply for French nationality as soon as you are eligible? Then it would not matter.

What about this massive permanent agricultural budjet, can't famers cope.

And posts like this jus show that when it comes to agriculture, you just don't have a clue, not one scoobey doo. Unilateraly cutting off subsidies when America, Canada, Mexico are subsidising theirs would be plain crazy. Do you want to pay full market price for your food? do want to be paying 4 or 5 quid for a loaf of bread, do you want to go back to the days when a chicken cost £14 in todays money? Most of the CAP doesn't go to "farmers" it goes to big producers like RHM, Tate and Lyle. Royal Estates get £millions, Prince Charles' Duchy of Cornwall gets millions.

You witter on about our rebate. Did you know that the Thatcher government refused money from the Community Development Fund that would have gone into infrastructure, but Maggie didn't want to see big billboards at the side of the road saying "This Development is Funded or Partially Funded by the EU Community Development Fund" but if you won't put up the information you don't get the money. She chose to do without. Caen got a new ring road,

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Of course they can sell direct! Where on earth do you get that from? We sell wine to China for goodness sake, where are you banned from selling?

I see the head of the British CBI has now made a statement....... "Head of CBI warns of 'total destabilisation' of raising prospect of EU exit" was the headline

And Obama was on the phone again to Cameron..

Excerpt from his dialogue below......

Quote:

The President underscored our close alliance with the United Kingdom,' the White House said in an official statement, which is routine issued after calls with senior allies.

"The statement added that 'the United States values a strong UK in a strong European Union, which makes critical contributions to peace, prosperity, and security in Europe and around the world"

Unquote

But im sure they are all wrong....: :clap3::clap3:

Cameron has put his foot right in it again he is an expert at it as our priminister he is an embarasment he is trying his best to look good in all this and it just aint working he deserves the boot the quicker the better .

He is putting jobs at risk here in the uk have a read i dont know who wrote it for him here are bits.

Go to the Maire, get to know your Mayor. Tell him if the UK leaves the UK you want to be able to stay. He will help you out, mayors have clout in France.

I don't need to worry, I have got two kids with french nationality, and i speak the lingo. I can walk in and excercise residency whether we are in our out.

No he may be right, it works like this. Spain can only sell to say China or Argentina because when they have the big trade talks our trade agreements are negotiated as a block. If Spain were to "leave the club" then the Chinese may not be ALLOWED to buy from Spain, but it's not EU rules, its G8 or whatever they call themselves these days rules. Switzerland can survive because she has built up unilateral and bilateral deals over many years. A UK outside the club, loses access to club benefits

This is why Mr Honda has said that if the UK leaves Europe they will close Swindon and relocate to someplace on the Danube, for the reasons I gave in an earlier post in this thread.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Mine got the same, and got mains gas at the same time, but that was long before I had been there, but I did see the huge billboards by the preipherique in Caen I remeber the ex at the time asking why we never saw them anywhere in the UK. Later we decided to dig about (she's a Chartered Accountant, a VAT specialist, they are good at digging) until we found out why.
