Problems with the site?

had the DNS prob myself earlier.

RE. the back button prob, have a look at your browers settings and cache options.

For IE users goto Tools>>Internet Options>>Temp Internet files>>settings, and select either automatic or every visit to page. The other two options will just load the page as it was the last time it was downloaded onto the PC (used to speed up navigating around websites, but not much good in forums!)

For Netscape browsers goto Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced>>Cache>> then under the Compare document in cache to doc on network (or something very similar depending on Version) select >>Every time

You might want to change the setting back for speed purposes afterwards for general browsing, especially on a dial up connection.

For any of you running W2K or XP - here is a possible source of a problem for you and an easy try for a fix.

Your PC only does numbers. So when you try to connect to anglersnet.co.uk, your PC looks for a translation of that name to a number it can use. The fancy name is DNS (domain name system) and the usual place for it to look is to a Domain Name Server.

In an effort to make internet browsing faster, Microsoft started with 2K and has continued to use a local (on your PC) database thing to store the translations for any site you've visited since your last reboot. Your PC will check it's local information first and if it finds a listing, will use that address.

Problem is, the database will store bad info as easily as good info so if you try for AN when there is a problem, you may have crap stored rather than a good address. After that happens, your PC just won't find the site.

A reboot will clear the database and give you a fresh start but is a pain in the hindparts to do so here's an easier way.

Click on start~run, type in ipconfig /flushdns and press ENTER. Presto, your local DNS cache is now a virgin again and ready to start storing good information.

The only effect, other than getting rid of errors, will be a delay of maybe ½ second to connect to a site the first time you try it after flushing the cache.

When I tried to get on from the shortcut on my screen, all I get is a Gateway timeout error.I had to type the site name on my homepage and get in that way.
