Do you have a new challenge this year?

With the rivers coming to an end most of us will be hitting the stills. So do you have a challenge this year?

It may be amount of fish, a destination or the size or even not to fall in the water!

I have. It's not to catch a carp. Now that's a tough call when you think about it....Wish me luck!

I'd love to find somewhere with a more than decent chance of breaking the current pen rod record...which is now 23lb!

Chances are that means a carp....but anything would do as long as I could get decent video footage!

Kiri,

Come see me - better yet come see Newt. He lives in a much more picturesque area.

Pen rod will be fine - 17 lb line - reel with about 50 feet of line.

As I remember the 23 lbr is a grass carp (?).

You need to make the record a common.

Having taken a brace of Bream being 4 & 5oz under 10lb on Sunday (only two bites in six hours) I will be aiming at a double from my now becoming usual haunt as well as a double figure Tench.

A 20lb+ Carp is already crossed off the list from there leaving Eels and one of them elusive Roach (confirmed to be present by another Angler who has caught a few on Sunday.

Will also be aiming to use as many methods as I can to vary my fishing as usual with visits to a few local venues (received an Xmas present of a 24hr ticket at one I have never fished).

Yes, mine is to get out and do some Coarse fishing again, I really fancy catching a Tench.

Phone id love to head stateside and have a crack at some of the carp out there with a pen rod! trust me! if I was out there then the record would certainly be a hell of a lot bigger than 23lb! and the videos would be awesome! LOL

sadly I just cant justify the cash or the trip to people on the backing of "hey; I need a month off work and $5000 so I can holiday in the US to catch a record carp!"

sad but true :(
