All,

A bit more unbias than BBC. Take a look

Tamiflu was never approved for "swine flu" except on an emergency basis. Oseltamivir. Oseltamivir is FDA-approved for treatment of adults and children with uncomplicated acute illness caused by influenza A or B virus and for chemoprophylaxis of influenza among adults. (I believe swine flu is H1N1 although not sure)

Old news.

Oh and given that most of the purchases were made in 2006, it's hardly the fault of "this government".

It was our faultless as usual British papers/media that ramped up our fear of flus in the first place. Until recently, apart from the odd cautionary reminder every year, for the benefit of the elderly and the very young, we didn't hear much about 'The Flu'.

After a few outbreaks and deaths from 'The Flu' in China or some other backward, medically disadvantaged and probably untrustworthy region in the East, we were more or less told you couldn't open a packet of Bernard Matthews Turkey bangers, without risk of death within a day or two of exposure, so you jolly well better get down to your Doctor and demand a vaccination. After all, you paid for the stuff in the first place and it's completely reasonable to form massive queues round the block, in all weathers, for a drug you hadn't even heard of 2 days previously.

Unsurprisingly, like sheep, millions of us did exactly that because there's no news like British news. If the BBC says it's true, it must be and to back it up, we were shown huge, red, graphic global maps along with entirely plausible scenarios, explaining how it only takes a handful of planes, some unwitting carriers of the plague and the entire planet's population would be halved in two before Jeff Goldblum and a team of select experts in the field could save America and the rest of the civilised World from our own stupidity.

Its how big companies and governments reward each other ,for not letting the cat out of the bag over iraq the gov gives rumsfeld bribes by buying worthless drugs

If it was kept quiet and the media not investigated the present stock would be" out of date" and a few million quids worth of new stuff needed for the next non existant possible pandemic dreamt up to jusify another bribe

Like the toy "metal detectors" we bought (no testing ?) someone in the background gets bribes to buy stuff no questions asked ,you can bet the nhs buys its drugs top dollar because someone is getting their palms greased not to insist on a reduction for bulk buying

I think it just might have been the Right Honorable Patricia Hewitt ;)

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Dont you believe it probably worse looking at the official figures do your sums and this goverment have wasted more but that doesnt exuse the last goverment its an absurd waste of money.

Today, the department confirmed it had spent £239 million on the jab up to the end of vaccine deliveries in April 2010.
