Groundbait mixed with tapwater?

Rusty

Recommended Posts

I’m going tenching tomorrow and have splashed out on some posh groundbait for a change. It must be brilliant stuff because it's called 'Tanches' which is quite similar to 'Tench'. I’ve mixed in some other bits and pieces and want to add the water to get the right consistency in the luxury of my own kitchen rather than bankside. Is this a good idea considering the additives tap water has in it?

It smells really nice and I can’t imagine that a bit of chlorine will change the smell but would fish pick it up do you think?

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

If it's raining down there, as bad as it is up here, then put a bucket outside and use that. Or go get some Evian or similar if it gives you more confidence.

Me, I would just use the tap water.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

If it's really worrying you, then fill a bottle of water or two from the lake and take it back to your kitchen to mix at leisure.

I dunno, I try to move into the upper echelon of stillwater angling and all I get is p1sstakes. I’m trying to take a scientific approach to this y’know, no detail must be overlooked if I’m to succeed in my quest for angling god status.

Maybe I’ll pop the bucket in the sink then.

Either use lake water or if you've cooked some hemp or particles up, use the water from that, or, if you are using tinned sweetcorn as bait, the water from the tin....just don't use tapwater :yucky:

Don't use tap water is just an anglers tale IMO as I've had many good catches with it over the years.

There will be far more additives in the groundbait and any chlorine will probably have done one long before you get it in your swim.

But I've never tried that yucky stuff you southerners call tap water. :yucky:
