It's dawning on people at last

cheers folks, whenever i've pointed out the "problems" with the government (ok ok slagged them off) i get grief, yet i see this thread has done the same and people are agreeing.

My favourite way of describing the labour government.........if you went into dixons and saw a box with "21in colour tv" on it and paid for it then got home opened the box and found out it was a 14in black and white you wouldn't be happy........its basically false advertising yes?

well as far as i'm concerned the manifesto's that the political parties (ANY party) spout about to get elected are their advertisement for getting voted in...so how come none of the stuff labour claimed they were going to do has happened? surely that's false advertising and as such they should be prosecuted for it.

One thing i do love about labour is the way they claim the credit for stuff started by the tories when they were in power if it goes well and love to blame the tories when something they started goes badly LOL

I'd love to get into power and have full control of Great Britain, i'd only last a week before someone assasinated me but it'd be a great week LOL

Well, to be fair, they did put a lot of extra money into the NHS. But then they didn't fund Agenda for Change or the new Consultants' contract, or reduced working hours for junior doctors, so most of it didn't end up being spent on frontline patient care, which is what people were expecting. :(

Which rather justifies my point about everything being in the presentation. Concetrate on the headlines and repeat it until you've bored everyone to a stupour, by which time they'll have lost interest and the nitty gritty won't matter.

Cyncial? Moi? Just about as cynical as Peter Mandelbum, the architect of this type of manipulation.

Back in 1997, when 'New' Labour were being handed victory on a plate, their key selling point was 'openness and honesty'. The BBC sound recorder picked up Mandelbum on his mobile phone telling someone in very brusque fashion 'This MUST be supressed!'.

I didn't trust them at the time, nothing has changed.

Labour have done me no harm at all, I would just like to read ONE specific way in which anyone on here has been actually affected. Specific please, not the usual rubbish about the NHS (we still got one thanks to Labour)

God help us if the Libs get in, there are a lot of sandal wearers in that party

By the way, I did work all my life, saved a bit, and pay tax.

Would I be paying less under a Lib or Tory Gov't?

Would I have been able to have an Ulcer suspected, diagnosed and treated within 7 weeks without the brand new dept at my local hospital??

I will say that I see signs of a recession coming, no economy can go on for ever with no controls on personal spending, credit cards have to be paid for at some time!

Most people still in work and looking forward to a reasonable pension have been affected, although many do not realise it yet.

Gordon Brown has raided pension funds to the extent that many occupational pension schemes will not be paying their future pensioners nearly as much as expected.

OK, it doesn't affect me, or you Den (unless our respective pension providers go bust) - but a lot of people are going to be badly off in their retirement.

BTW I wonder if Gordon Brown living in the Dunfermlin constituency had an influence on the result?

I'm reminded of a candidate who was first on the doorstep, and gave the usual spiel and promises to the canny North Country woman who answered the door.

She said, when he had finished "Ah think ah'll vote for t'oother feller"

"But you haven't seen the other fellow yet" said the candidate.

She replied "Nay lad, but ah've seen thee "

Seven weeks Den? That's nothing to boast about. Had you lived in France it probably would have been a few days...and you wouldn't have been at war with anyone over WMD which turned out to be WGM (weapons gone missing ) You might have to turn that bivvie into an Anderson shelter yet

All Governments are destined to fail with system we currently have in place. We elect people who are unqualified for the job in hand and then only give them a max of 5 years to do it in.

With the system we've got, only about 30% of the electorate actually vote in the government. That is if we have the usual 50- odd% turnout.
