Its such a shame

I'm another of those who posts much less often than in the past. The reason is that I don't want to get dragged into any arguements - I'd rather go fishing than argue about it! In fact, I now totally ignore more and more topics, either from the start or when they get contentious.

For me it's not so much what's posted, it's more the tone of the posts. I'm perfectly prepared to have a friendly debate, but personal attacks are out in my book.

Occasionally I get hot under the collar about a post, However, like others, I've learned to sleep on it before replying. In the cold light of morning I usually decide to tone down my post or not post at all.

What is out of order is having a go at the mods. Remember that they're volunteers who freely give up their valuable time to deal with the worst excesses. And there's more and more of these now that the membership has grown so they simply can't run as tight a ship as they'd possibly like. We won't always agree with their decisions, but think of them as referees in a football match. And remember in a football match the referees decision is final......

It comes down to economic security. If the conditions aren't right to have some spare cash, we can't go angling.

With the demise of the great socialist dream behind the Iron Curtain, many of the people who are that way inclined, have gravitated to the Veggie/Greeny/Conservation movement in order to try to change society and often to make a living without having to produce anything that will give someone a profit.

Political Correctness is the outrider of international socialism.

I think the young and the retired, who think they are financially fireproof(appart from @Winter@), fall into one group, and the rest, who have to earn a living in the real world fall into another group.

You've lost me too Jim,

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

To put it bluntly, the people that preach the extreme conservationist doctrine, also preach the anti capitalist, anti profit doctrine that will ruin the conditions that enable us to have enough disposable income to enjoy hobbies such as angling.

Left to the loony, leftie, veggie, greenies, we would be back to the late 1800s when they had to work 3 days or more a week just to pay the rent, and the rest of the week to feed the family. The missus stayed at home cooking, sewing, knitting etc.

No wonder that some people, who still work in the food, clothing and shelter industries, get wound up by their rantings. We won't last long when everybody is in government or service industry jobs!

Elton has got to walk a tightrope. After all, he is trying to make a profit, dirty word though it might be to some!

complaining if someone posts a risque photo

Looks like I missed out again :sad2:

It is not about pics or post people don't agree with, it is about maintaining a reasonable response, calling someone a S***head because that person has posted a different view from yours just shows a total lack of control and a total disregard for other peoples feelings.

There is nothing wrong with being forthright or shooting from the hip providing the contents are not rude or insulting.

Sorry Jim but I don't think people fit into the neat boxes you quoted, many elderly people are very poor and a lot of youngsters earn very little, fighting for that crust of bread is something people of all ages suffer from. ;)

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM
